Sorry to hear about the excessive sweating.... I know the problem well, so can really relate.
Read on CZ some time back of someone who´d done the surgery and was extremely sorry he had. I have´nt had it done... tho I did consider it as well, as unnatural as going this route is. After reading the above posters bad experience, I was glad I had´nt. A friend who had lots of (alternative) medical knowledge also made me aware of the fact that if the sweating was stopped by surgery... another ventil would be looked for by the body and rheumatism could/would be only one of the possible diseases resulting thereof.
After being on CZ for quite a while, I´ve found out that excessive sweating not only causes de-hydration but also depletes (and unbalances) the electrolytes and the excessive sweating is almost like being in a vicious circle... because some of the electrolytes work by retaining / re-cycling liquids in our body-system. So drinking more and making sure to top up one´s electrolytes (while avoiding excessive Sugar and taking B-Vitamins) has helped me to cope with the situation which has since improved a lot. Also have done a few Liver Flushes to help the liver de-tox more effectively. If you’re answer to question one is yes, then you should probably consider having the surgery. The surgery will definitely be effective if sweating is the problem. I smell in addition to sweating, the surgery eliminated the sweat, but the smell is still present. Please research the doctor if you decide to pursue surgery.

Now, I’m in the process of having another doctor perform a new technique called Sub-Dermal Laser Ablation (SDLA) to eliminate the odor (Axillary bosmidrosis). Please research the surgeon; I was reluctant to do research before my first surgery. Even though the first surgeon fixed the sweating, the smell is still present. Also, surgery can be expensive; depending on the problem it ranges from 1,500 to 6,000 dollars. Most surgeons accept insurance for the EDT surgery, but for the new techniques, most surgeons will not accept insurance or the insurance companies are unwilling to pay for surgery, especially United Healthcare. I was told by them that sweating and underarm odor is not a life threatening disease, so there company refused to pay for my surgery to have my sweat glands removed which is a different surgery than EDT.

I used drysol, botox, medications and several other deodorants and nothing worked. I would recommend surgery if you have tried everything with no results.

to purchase it for $16.00. Botox is expensive and it’s temporary, not permanent. I think it’s a waste of money. Paying a dermatologist thousands of dollars a year for temporary results is ridiculous when you can have surgery which is permanent. I had Botox and every six months; I paid over one thousand dollars for the injections.

FYI - Drysol and Botox helped eliminate my sweating, but my problem is the odor if you have odor then the two products probably won’t help you. Sine I’m waiting to have my second surgery, I have been using body mint and eliminating junk food from my diet to keep the odor at bay.

EDT surgery - most people complain about this surgery because of its side effects. It causes compensatory sweating. (Google EDT surgery for under sweating if you are unfamiliar with it.) There’s a new technique for EDT as well, but you’ll need to find a doctor whose education on the procedure. I would not recommend the old procedure for EDT because I have heard horrible stories about that procedure and it side effects.

His surgery leave menial scaring and the recovery is quicker. I saw him on the news when I was visiting my cousin in San Antonio. I have done extensive research on him and he seems like a great doctor to help correct my underarm odor problem. I hope this helps you and others who are interested in surgery or suffering with underarm sweating and odor. Ten years of sweating and underarm odor is enough for me. Even though the sweat is gone, the odor is my main problem.

Is the odour caused by bacteria on the skin?? or is it coming from inside - by this I mean is it a gas leaving your system via your feet?? I have overactive sweat glands in my feet and over the years I have felt that a gas comes out bringing a smell like sewage. Some people can get odours coming from different parts of their bodies such as the chest, stomach area, hands, feet, and head.

I believe internal candida can cause your feet to smell, so you could have a yeast overgrowth in your system.

If the cause is external, such as bacteria on the feet, the posts below might help you:
Have you tried washing your feet in the cleansing solution used by surgeons before an op. You can buy this on-line for a few pounds - one supplier is VIRUSafe. This should kill all bacteria and fungus on skin.

My podiatrist helped me control my foot odor by soaking my feet about 15 minutes in an Epson Salts bath (1/2 cup of Epson Salts in 1/2 gallon of luke warm water). At the time, the heels of my feet had alot of little cracks in them, and she prescribed Kerol Redi-Cloths (42% urea). She told me that bacteria was growing inside the little cracks in the heel of my feet.

The Kerol Redi-Cloths are very expensive (prescription strength urea), but my insurance covered it. I guess you could also try to get a prescription for just the urea 42% and any foot scraper would do. One side of the cloths helps scrape off dead skin and the other side has the urea that you apply all over each foot. It's best to scrape gently scrape the soles of your feet after soaking them in a Epson Salts bath or after showering.

She recommended that I use socks and closed shoes during this treatment. She recommended I put a bactericidal foot treatment called On Your Toes (Bactericide USP purified microfined oxide of zinc) powder inside my shoes to help kill the bacteria that may have grown, or may grow inside my shoe. I bought new shoes after having begun this treatment to make sure I didn't re-contaminate my feet again.

This was a couple of years ago, and I haven't had foot odor since.

If you cannot get redi-cloths you can try Ped-Egg to take off hard skin, and you can google for 40% urea - I think there are only a couple available at this strength that you do not need a prescription for.

Also try Eradicil when washing socks, towels and bed linen as this apparently kills bacteria and fungus and prevents re-infection.

One other option is to see a Chinese heralist, as they can sometimes help.

If I remember right, Dr. oz fron tv said to soak feet in a foot bath that has green tea to draw out toxins, etc. Perhaps it will help you.

I heard of something called formalyde 10 spray but it seems it's no longer being sold. I was able to get my doctor to give me a prescription for it but I didn't continue seeking it after the pharmacy told me they don't sell it and I don't think sweat is the cause of my BO.

Hi I truly feel for you. I suffer from HyperHydrosis since I was a teen, now 41. I got the Thoracic Sympothetemy, check spelling, in about 1989. My hands are permanently dry but I suffer from bad compensatory sweating. I now sweat from my chest and back when I never did before. My feet sweat much more now too. At the time Dr. Martin Cooper did the surgery I had to get in down the spine so I have a scar there, not too bad really. Some people say the Sage tea works, it never did for me. I tried The Drionic machine, didn't work either. Robinul Forte 2mg works but makes your eyes very dry. If you get the surgery get the kind where the procedure is reversible the put some kind of band on the nerve. Some days I can't wear colored shirts too many sweat stains. Oh well without dry hands I probably would have never had any female relationships so its a trade off. It's genetic for me I got it from my Dad. I wish the best of luck.
