I shouldn't probably confess this, as it will diminish my 'status' here as an experienced and trustworthy faster, but as that is all illusion anyway (status, that is) :-), I drank a little red wine up to the third day of my long (26 days) water fast. Just a glass at night. Red wine was my daily, shared, evening pleasure, and somehow it allowed me to get past the hump of three days.
I should add, I drank it in bird-sized sips, with a lot of respect for the grape. And treated it like a sacrament>>> I always have...
I can't see anything redeeming in Pepsi max other than the success, if you can call it that, of "food science" at enslaving people. I believe it is a far more dangerous drug than red wine.
side note: since that
Water Fast I now only drink wine occasionally. The WF 'broke' the habit.
If you read the literature, there is much written about these first three days. Also, in every detox or rehab setting/experience, quitting is a three-day affair, at least at the physiological level. After that, it's all psychological. As I told another faster who was tormenting himself with 'desires for food', it's all about the mind, once you get into the fourth day. If you do get a strong 'urge' to break the fast, it is usually only akin to the cravings ex-smokers get. They (we--I am an ex-smoker too) are taught to breathe through a craving. If you wait for it, the mind is not capable of staying on a single subject for more than 3 minutes. In most cases it's even less than a second. (But sh:what a humiliation that is for the ego to hear! ;-))So--if you just *watch* the mind, you will see that this is true.
best, Chiron
