Period after removal of mirena

I have posted before its been about a month and a half since I had my mirena taken out. I was on my period right up till the day I got it out. Then I bled the next day from the removal and that was that. Now I'm late by just about 2 weeks is this normal? If I dont have one by this friday I will get a home preg test. But was just wondering is this a normal side effect from mirena. I had mirena for only 6 months and after the first 3 months of non stop bleeding I had normal periods.- Re: Period after removal of mirena mom22girlz

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,620,137Your periods are really likely to be screwy. I had 2 normal periods after mirena...then skipped a period every other month for a few months...just getting back on track.

and I have not had one since... it's been 50days.. so I'm just waiting. But I'm not worried about getting PG, hubby has that covered *snip* :)

This is a reply to # 1,620,137It took about 9-10 months for my periods to get back to normal. Feeling better every cycle. Except during my period I get muscle spasms and twiching. Anyone have any idea what is missing in my body to cause this? Supplement of some sort. I take vitamins and minerals and wonder if anyone else found something that helps.

This is a reply to # 1,621,705I had my Mirena removed in December and had a light period roughly a month later.But since then for the last 5 months- nothing. Before I had the Mirena fitted I had a regular 28 day cycle. I've also noticed I've started having hot flushes, mainly at night in bed, so am thinking maybe it's made me menpopausal.Apart from this though, I've recovered brilliantly after having this dreadful device removed.

This is a reply to # 1,622,438You didn't mention how old you are, but many women of all ages started getting hot flashes after getting the Mirena. I was in my forties when I had the Mirena inserted and never had a hot flash until it was inserted. Unfortunately, 6 years later and 1 year post removal, I'm still having them. The artificial progestin shuts off your own progesterone and really messes up your delicate balance of hormones.

This is a reply to # 1,622,671I'm 47. I have read on this site and others about women suffering hot flushes after removal.I'd never had anything like it before I had the Mirena. I don't mind going through the menopause, if that's what it is, because I have three teenagers and we don't want any more kids. But for many women it would be terrible if they havent finished adding to their family.

This is a reply to # 1,622,901I too was experiencing hot flashes and fainting just before #2 mirena came out. Thought I was entering the menopausal mode as well. The flashes and heart palps and all the crazy symptoms stopped after removal. Recently had a test to see if I was in menopause, but the blood test showed I was not. Weird. I am 42. Now regular peroids. Pretty much 1 a month lasting 5 days. Good luck to all. Hopefully no one will have lasting effects from this thing. Myself... I feel about 98% better now. At 1 year post. YAY!!!! Best decision ever to have no more mirena.
