I'm a little too intimidated to try to make my own kefir and drink it, I'm doing cultured veggies now (they seem a little safer than milk and sugar, even though it is suppose to eat it up) then will do the kefir way later in my progress...
every water kefir recipe I see calls for sugar in the water for it to eat. I would rather do milk, way more afraid of straight sugar at this point than milk...ha

Why? Milk can contain all sots of garbage such as hormones, antibiotics, heavy metals, etc.
Sugar is a lot cleaner. And regardless of the sugar source the sugars are just going to get converted in to acids.
Sugar defeats the point of trying to clean up candida. And I can tell you from personal experience, if I eat sugar in any form, I feel like crap. With regards to milk, when I do drink it, I only buy organic that is hormone and antiobiotic free.
The sugar is used up in the fermentation process. The bacteria ferment the sugars creating beneficial acids. This is why the kefir should be fermented long enough to get rid of as much sugar as possible.
I don't have milk or sugar at all, but yes of course the raw/antibiotic free milk would be what I would use, if and when I do the kefir.
also angelofeventide I wrote back on that other thread about thyriod, don't know if you got it. I put my test results down and one seemed on the high side, was wondering what yours were and what you thought. I know tests are not accurate. http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1580101#i
