Can anyone else identify with these symptoms.
Where do i start, im 49 years old and two years ago after battling with heavy periods for a couple of years, i went to the hospital to see the gyne, he fitted a marina coil.
I bled worse they ever for about 9 months then it started to improve so i was hopeful, after two years, i still breed lightly, have gained weight, have stomach cramps and pain down left hand side, i have muscle pains but thought thats the fibromyagia, the thing is this all started at the same time and it just might be the menopause.
im tempted to get it taken out but worried i will be back with heavy periods every two weeks and anaemic again.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,564,477I am positive this is mirena. Especially the muscle pain, left side weakness, etc. I had all those, and more... and sitll am having issues almost a year later. I only had mine in 3 months, and my health began to deteriorate after only weeks with it in. Please search my past posts for more info.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,564,477I had the Mirena inserted at about the same age as you. It took almost 5 years of horrible side effects to figure out it was the Mirena. I wish I had realized earlier it was the Mirena before things got so bad: high blood pressure, weight gain, severe joint and muscle pain, hot flashes, carpal tunnel, pressure urticaria, tinnitus, sinus problems, sore throat problems, heart palpitations, exhaustion, and a damaged thyroid gland. I hope you have yours removed before it gets worse.

This is a reply to # 1,564,742thanks jane, and mom, on this basis ive booked an appointment with the gyne this afternoon, its not till may, the bleeding had stopped for a couple of days but its started again now, so thats over two years now, if things havent improved for the better by may i shall go and see what he says. di - Re: Marina coil fitted to cope with ... This is a reply to # 1,564,742Does the Mirena hurt the thyroid? Really?
I have had a bad thyroid for over 15 years. My OB/GYN just inserted the Mirena three months ago to combat menopausal symptoms (horrible cramping>)
I am now really worried.. this is the first I have heard of the thyroid issue.
