Second, I would add three caps of Herp Eeze three times daily between meals. This product combines extracts of Prunella v. and Olive leaf which are anti viral,
The big drawback to prunella (heal all) is that it also suppresses thyroid function.
It is possible that she is taking or eating something that is keeping the thyroid up. For example if she was diagnosed as being hypothyroid she would likely be on thyroid medication.
Either way I don't recommend it since this is one of its primary uses in Chinese medicine, to suppress the thyroid. And other people may not be as lucky as your wife. So people need to be aware of this potential side effect of prunella.
This could be the answer as well:

Estrogen is a primary cause of thyroid suppression and prunella is anti-estrogenic.
So if excess estrogen is causing the hypothryoidism the Herp Eeze w/ Prunella would be a good thing, right?
As long as you don't over do it and you are sure this is the cause. Although I prefer to balance hormones with bitters, which often are also antivirals such as andrographis.
Also keep in mind that prunella has been shown to supress the thyroid. It may be anti-estrogenic but there can still be compounds in prunella that suppress the thyroid.
Is there anything other Herp Eeze that you would recommend? I have herpes, the "lip sore" kind not the gential type.
Lysine helps to suppress the virus by antagonizing the amino acid arginine, which triggers outbreaks. Lysine needs to be taken on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before meals. Avoiding high arginine foods like chocolate.
Chaparral is supposed to kill the virus internally.
For local application you can take juniper berry essential oil or basil essential oil, add a small amount of olive oil so they won't be irritating, and apply the oil mix directly to the outbreak. This will kill the localized virus and speed the healing.
What do you recommend for people who's liver function might have been compromised by the Epstein Barr Virus
The best antiviral herbs are chaparral, andrographis and pau d' arco. Chaparral in particular has been found to destroy herpes viruses. I also like Phyllanthus niuri (chanca piedra) and picrorrhiza, which are both excellent antivirals and liver support herbs.
and what would you recommend for dealing with the Epstein Barr Virus itself?
In addition to the above herbs I would also include turmeric, schisandra berry and milk thistle seed.
Just reading a lot about EBV and how it can affect the liver and supress the immunse system. Not sure what's going on with me but none of the supplements I take have an effect on me. I always feel like I have a low grade to higher fever so EBV might be the main culprit. I do have the herpes, the "kissing" type. I saw that Herp Eeze contained that something that could affect my thryoid. I would like to try what was recommended above as I have Milk Thistle Seed powder and can get some Sambucol easily. What would you recommend instead of Herp Eeze? How much and for how long? Do you think this would pack the punch that Herp Eeze has?
It would really help if you really knew what you were dealing with. A fever, even low grade, could be anything from an infection to hyperthyroidism. If it is an infection specific herbs can sometimes be recommended depending on what kind of infection it is or where it is located.
Since you are not sure I would stick to chaparral and andrographis, which covers viruses, bacteria and fungi. This without stimulating white blood cells with a high polysaccharide content that can aggravate autoimmune conditions, which some can also cause low grade fevers.
Recommended dose on the chaparral and andrographis is 2 capsules of each, or mix equal parts of the powders together and use 1/2 teaspoon, 3 times daily at least 20 minutes before meals.
