I've had more than one email exchange with him. He is an upright guy, and he did what many of us have done when we first got to CZ, he got into a debate forum and had a confrontation. I can see from some of the threads that the insults were being thrown from both directions quite frankly. I think we are only seeing one side of the postings.
I believe he really added value because of his scientific background. Yes I had some email exchanges about his background. We all know that you can never believe what you read, or who you are communicating to, but not one of my red flags went up with him.
He was great in the Oil Pulling forum except for one exchange, in which he apologized. Most of the forums and blogs out on the internet are not as restrictive as CZ when it comes to insulting exchanges. I think he was trying to learn his way around here, and of course fell into a bad discussion. Truly I don't know if he would ever have been patient enough to stay around here. I guess we'll never find out.
Given time, I think eventually Vance would have been a good poster at CZ. Hell a lot of us don't agree with each other many times. Some of us have just learned restraint. I remember my first days here I fell into some of the Debate Forums and had these long screaming circular arguments with this one guy. I disliked that guy, and would talk about him to my husband like he was someone I know, socialized with......I would read his answers to my posts and my blood would boil. My husband finally convinced me that all these angry exchanges were fruitless, negative and unproductive. He was right as rain.
Personally I wouldn't mind him back, but I suspect that Vance is gone and wouldn't even have the desire to come back here.
It's unfortunate that people get a tad too sensitive at this website, and I am including myself in that comment.
So Vance if you are reading this, happy trails dude.
P.S., there are some posters at CZ that I remember were LESS than sensitive not that many years ago. Some of them are still here.- Re: I like Vance trapper/kcmo

Trapper, we sure have said some controversial and unpopular things in our past, eh?

This is a reply to # 1,406,005Not only was he posting with three usernames, which is plenty of violating of TOS rules to be banned, but if you look through his posts, even ones that are not in Debate Forums , you will see that he was off the wall nasty to other posters.
Many of his remarks were belittling.
There was one I saw that was like this and I went to the original post to see what he was referring to and the original poster had gone back and deleted her question.
This is the kind of stuff that clearly isn't welcome in a atmosphere that needs to be somewhat supportive.
I'm sure there are plenty of people here that had good exchanges with him and feel his being banned wasn't right.
I thought he was a pretty cool guy too.
But if you look at the overall picture of the trail that he left it is clear to see that at the core he was a bad apple.

a lot of people have gotten nasty with others on the forums, both debate and support. It's really easy to get sucked into those games, and once one knows how to play the multiple username game, to play that as well.
It turns into a big game, for more than a few. Some outgrow it, some don't. The ones that don't usually end up banned from all Support Forums . The ones that DO outgrow it can turn into really great contributors.
An example that I can think of would be "Spidina/Mia Dearden"..., I can't even think of her other usernames. She was REALLY nasty to VWT, really rotten. She moved on, was really nasty to others. Somewhere along the way she had a change of heart, started posting some really good info. I don't know what spurred on that change, and I am not sure why she left CZ, people do(leave) all the time.
Molly sez Vance is ok by her, and that's good enough for me. She's been slumming around this site for a while now and knows good when she sees it. I've read some of his postings on OP, and they're right on.
I'm not familiar with all of the turmoil Vance seems to be causing on other forums, nor do I care to be. I'm just pointing out that there is no such thing as a completely rotten poster...in fact, rabble-rousers here regularly get their own forums(if only to contain them).
That was certainly said about VWT, Moreless. I have thoughts about containing a few prolific posters but I will demur....

This is a reply to # 1,406,191sometimes you just have to make a judgement call. forgiveness is the road to repentance, so people do need a chance to change.
i dont know vance, but i agree with molly and batty. there is a learning curve here and its easy to get sucked into a vile confrontation with people, especially as many resident trolls as we have.

I think he was provoked on some, others he was being too honest and not all touchy feely, the way that so many of the bruised egos at CZ want. He was blunt and that can be such a misdemeanor here. He was also honest about his other names, used his real name, and said so.
Face it, he rubbed you the wrong way and you made a concerted effort to get rid of him. You were so hurt that you didn't just make one post about his apparent mis behaviors, you made numerous posts in more than one forum.
If you don't call that a witch hunt, then I don't know what is.
So you won. Congratulations. I guess we just move on from here. It's too bad, some of the posts he made at the Oil Pulling forum were a cut above what we usually see around here. Actual Science to support some of our modalities? Wow, shame on him.
Just be aware, when someone goes after another poster, they have to make absolutely sure this person has come here to do harm, not someone who just comes in here to state their own opinion that may or may not be shared by others. And should they do that, then the Debate Forums are for that, and they can get nasty really quickly.
I think the only reason Barefoot and Moreless have never been banned is that they have their own forums. Go there if you really want to see some fun postings.
I was so hoping you wouldn't respond to my post because I have strong feelings about the health and vitality of Curezone and the fact that it takes all kinds, even people with zero social skills, to make this an interesting place to visit. If anything, we should not be beige.- Molly TheObserver

But I never asked the webmaster to ban him. But I gave him a personal ban - for he was just trowing personal attacks but would not debate... He was not the person in the picture - the author had a childs mind and a weak one at that - hiding behind the theme of strength. I called him out and illustrated his bluff... Just hot air...

Okay, I'm willing to say that Vance was a bad boy, and for that I should send out a huge spanking. I stand behind the TOS, and I will forever stand behind my girlfriends (Zoe).
He behaved badly. He should be given a second chance at some point. I don't think he will be back however.
Oh well. Such possibilities and promise. He shouldn't have gone for the debates and the dark side. And he shouldn't have used his real name. I never did in the Debate Forums , and I stayed somewhat pure in the upper land of support. Now I'm done with the debate.....so done.
Observer. Forgive him if he should come back. I do believe he has a lot to offer to our natural health.

You asked me to forgive him - done... He clearly can make handles - so he will be back when ever he wishes, and I would suspect if he keeps it to 1 handle the webmaster will leave him be. Admiting you are 3 handles - what choice did webby have right?

I agree with Molly too. Vance,
if that is his real name, was
contributing in forums in a
meaningful way but was still
working on his delivery. We
have had more than a good share
of posters who have also acted
poorly at first. Even Mia was
able to finally face her demons
and settle in for some meaningful
dialog. I do not take other posters
gnawing on my ankles too personally
but if they want to play, I am
guilty of playing and will. Most
of all, it would be so neat if
people "would" treat others the
way they would like to be treated.
I will always champion for that
kind of dialog although, I know,
it is often less perfect and in
many cases, a healing issue.
Ultimately, often, the Webmaster
and moderators will make choices
which are unpopular or less tolerant
than other times. It is generally
done to move things along and to
give someone a time out. Hopefully
Vance will return and find his time
spent here still meaningful but
easier on the eyes of the beholder~~
