Good job on your description of this disorder, concise and to the point. I agree with your idea of writing to the medical research companies. Several years ago I wrote to 20 of the top hospitals in gastroenterology outlining my problem and looking for help. I only got 2 responses. One from the Mayo Clinic who blew me off saying they were only interested in GI illnesses which were life threatening. like pancreatic cancer, and one response from Cleveland Clinic saying they were unfamiliar with my condition. Chapel Hill Northe Caroline also sent me an application to be seen at the functional medicine clinic. All the other hospitals never even responded. I also wrote to some well known doctors like Dr Levitt, Hoffman, and someone in California who proposed the bacterial overgrowth of small intestine as contibuting to IBS symptoms and nobody responded.

This is a very good idea, however, writing to medical companies, hospitals, doctors etc. will have very few results because there are few doctors and researchers willing to go out of their way for something as "unimportant" as BO, which cannot bring them the fame and wealth they dream of. You need to include some sort of mention regarding the material gains they can make because people who have it are already spending so much on alternative methods, and if a real cure/cause is discovered, they will be more than willing to pay to eliminate this problem.

Unfortunately, in today's world most doctors etc. will not do something like this purely out of the goodness of their heart...

maybe someone can suggest to Ophra to make an episode about BO, like that one on Tyra a few months back. maybe have a guest or two who suffers from BO and also have Dr oz as a guest.

A slot on Oprah would be nice I was actually thinking the same thing! It would take a lot of letters though...
