I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this...
I just want to let people know about a natural head lice treatment.
It worked for me, I didn't have to buy those expensive, pesticide head lice shampoos.
I used Original Listerine (not mint or any other flavour, apparently the other flavours may make your hair sticky). I got my head and hair soaked with it, and left it on over night. In the morning I showered and used conditioner, leaving the conditioner in for 15 minutes while I washed.
For the next few days I soaked my head and hair with listerine and left it in for about an hour before I showered.
I washed all my bedding and clothes and vacuumed. I slept on the couch each night and vacuumed it in the morning, until I was certain that the lice were gone (to avoid contaminating the clean bed).
Anyways I'm lice free now. I think I'll do the listerine treatment again in a few days to prevent any from coming back.
In my experience this listerine treatment worked well for me.Advertisement

My natural method of getting rid of them.
I've lived in London for a while and got lice there. I bought this stainless steel nitcomb: Nitty Gritty NitFree comb. (Just google it.)
I went to the bathroom and spent the next hours combing all the nits and lice from my hair. They're alive, so make sure you get rid of them. (make sure you flush em and clean the bathroom thoroughly afterwards. Also, don't keep towels and such hanging around while you're treating lice. They're nifty little critters.) I continued doing that for a week, until the comb didn't catch anything anymore. This works even if it has become a zoo on your head.
Never caught lice again after that. *hopes noone particulary humorous up there heard what I just said*

Hi Maverick494! I just wanted to share that both of my kids caught lice in school. We tried different shampoos to no avail. I also bought the metallic hair comb, it didn't work either. I just wanted to add to this thread a big thanks to curezone for giving good advice to get rid of head lice. What has worked best so far for me has been to saturate my head with olive oil then use the nit comb - it's a plastic one. Even though the school nurse said I didn't have any, that the lice shampoo just dried out my scalp, I just wasn't satisfied. The itching was driving me crazy, especially behind my ears and down around my neck. So, I decided to try the olive oil and comb and just see what I get. After about three hours, I combed out more than 7 lice (7 whole and bits of others plus eggs, I'm sure). I couldn't keep the oil on for 24 to 48 hours as suggested, but this has been much better than the shampoo which I refused to use twice. Then, after shampooing regularly, I rinsed with acv and water. My head feels immediately better. For precaution, I will do this again in about 5 days. It's hard to find time to have oil in your hair for the length of time suggested. I like the idea of getting the metal comb and just combing. My 8yo daughter brought them from home and I think I had the worse case of us. Now I know how better to get rid of them than that horrible 'pesticide on your head' stuff.Google Advertisement

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,420,472During a lice infestation at your kids school, make sure you use a hair dryer morning and night on hair and concentrate on scalp, especially after school, and the heat destroys the eggs and lice before they can take hold. My mom did this on herself when we were little and she was the only one who didn't get the lice despite using all the same brushes, couches, pillows, etc.

Head lice are a common, controversial and frustrating problem for parents. And the controversy isn't usually about where they got infected, but instead revolves around how you are going to get rid of the lice. There are a number of ways to get rid of head lice, ranging from chemical treatments to all natural varieties; depending on sensitivity and personal taste, you may want to integrate a combination of treatments.Symptoms
The main symptom of a head lice infestation is an itchy scalp from the bites of the lice. These bites can then become infected, and may appear red or crusty, and may lead to your child developing swollen lymph glands in his neck.How do you get head lice
- You catch head lice by having your head alongside the head of someone else who is infected with head lice.
- By sharing combs, brushes, barrettes, towels, hats, wigs, hair bands.
- Lying on carpets, upholstered furniture or bedding that contains lice or nits.
Treating head lice
It can be overwhelming to treat an infestation of lice. Every nit (egg) and every louse must be removed or the cycle can begin again.- Wash all clothes and bed linens in hot water (130° F/54.4° Celsius) with detergent. Put the clothing in the dryer on the highest heat for at least 20 minutes.
- Dry clean clothing or bed linens that cannot be machine washed.
- Clothing, linens, bean bag chairs or stuffed animals that can't be washed should be secured tightly in a bag and not removed for two weeks.
- Soak all hair items (brushes, combs, barrettes, hair bands, etc.) in rubbing alcohol for one hour.
- Use a special comb called a nit comb to remove all lice and nits.
- To even find the lice you must carefully search, small sections of hair at a time and in good light. The eggs are tiny, somewhat similar to poppy seed but will be almost clear to pale off white in color. You should find them laid no more than about half an inch from the scalp surface attached to hairs.

Hi Sundas! I tried all the treatment options for removing head lice on my daughter who is a volleyball player at school, such as using a headlice comb remover and other ways of killing them. But since she always play outside, they keep on coming in. Good thing I found out that Licealiz is the cure to everything! This is fast, proven, and effective. :)

I find it a waste to use Listerine as a head lice treatment. A bit weird too. Is it really effective?
I did find out about a Philippine brand of head lice treatment that's REALLY effective. My kids were struck by head lice not too long ago and soon enough everyone in the family was getting them. It was a disaster.
A close family friend recommended Licealiz to me since she told me to avoid toxic head lice treatments and this particular brand can be used by toddlers. It definitely worked wonders! It only took about a week for everyone in the family to be head lice free! I highly recommend it - Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo. This is a reply to # 1,371,578We discovered a great lice killing spray without ugly pesticides. Our very curly haired kids could not get rid of lice until we found Lice Ease! Just pray in hair, wait 15 minutes and wash out the dead lice. do it again in 7 days and you are done done done! No need to comb forever because it kills the lice DEAD

My grandchildren treated their had lice problem with over the counter meds twice. But they weren't sure that the lice were gone. So, on the advice of friends, they bought this Ughbug Bed Bug detector which has uv light and a magnifier. They darkened the room and, sure enough, found several nits still attached to the hair shafts. Using that detector, they were easily able to pick off the nits. As a pediatrician I've found a small device that can find head lice nits before and after treatment. It's a handheld device with magnification called Ughbug Bedbug detector (best for lice). My patients get it on Amazon. My patients really like it.
