MoreA teenager beat his father to death with a hammer just weeks after being prescribed Prozac, reports DailyMail (UK). Edward Belben, just 15 years old, hit his father 30 times and then stabbed him in the head with a knife. He then attacked his mother with a crowbar and stabbed her in the face.
Belben has just been convicted of murder by a jury. During the court case, it emerged that he had been prescribed Citalopram by his doctor, even though its use on children under 18 has been illegal under UK law since 2003. When he started complaining of feeling like he was stuck in a "dream-like state," another doctor prescribed him Prozac at twice the recommended safe dosage for children and teens, dosing him with 20mg of Prozac per day.
Belben then reportedly told a psychiatrist, "I didn't feel real," according to DailyMail

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,353,187Years ago Grz, a doc prescribed me prozac for pms. It was common in the 80's to do this. After I took if for several years I noticed I was planning to kill everyone. It seemed very logical to me as they deserved to die, lol. Now I really sound crazy. I would plot out all the details and I was watching the tv one day and there was some case studies coming up proving that prozac users had thoughts of murder on their minds. I thought to myself, why that is me. So I flushed the stupid pills down the toilet and went thru almost death with a crash withdrawal and never had those thoughts once Prozac was out of my system. Well maybe,lol. hahhaha.
I would not give Prozac to my worse enemy, you become numb and everything seems normal to you and you are rationalizing the facts and it seems like ok. You are calm about it too. Prozac is a drug that should of been taken off the market years ago and with all the proof of its danger, why is it still around.

There's massive amounts of money being made with that stuff.
Its makers and prescribers are absolute criminals, they obviously continue to get away with their crimes and could care less what happens to others as a result.
Unfortunately, right now its up to us to have the sense to avoid it.
The only organization that's doing anything about it that I know of is Citizens Commission on Human Rights and its been an uphill battle.

This is a reply to # 1,353,217You see, there lies the problem. As a sick person we went to doctors and we think of them as Gods and we believe whatever they say. So we have a drugged society that is funding all these fat cats.
I look back 25 years ago and said I wish I had been smarter but then there was no Curezone, lol.

It is still around because it is nearly impossible to kill yourself with an overdose. And Shrinks are very much afraid of their depressed patients trying to kill themselves. Liability, you know.
Secondly it helps some people at least not feel the effects of the Depression if only by making them numb.
I think i might go take some myself. i have got bottles of the stuff. After 45 years of looking for a cure I havent found anything that works.- Re: why is it still around.
