I respect your viewpoint, but see it differently.

I put the blame on the system. The young docs who come into it have no way of knowing what it's all about. A few of them figure it out later but by then its too late - its easy for them to just continue in the cushy life because by the time they figure it out, they're just getting their loans paid off on education, insurance, equipment costs associated with the practice, etc. so most just go along with the greed-based system because thats the path of least resistance. so what if a few patients die ?? The world is over-populated with useless eaters anyhow.

The few who do think freely are scorned by the Ministry of Health, if they ever affect any real cures, some see prison in extreme cases, but usually the harassment is enough to bring them into line. Doctors, as a class of men, are more easily manipulated than many others, because of the relationship-specific investments they've made with the system. To part with it leaves them without a means. Until the system is changed, there will be no change. Its not the individual doctors faults.

Changing a system requires a revolution, and the people of today don't have the knowledge or the guts, so they'll remain enslaved to that, and other systems, until divine intervention or an asteroid hits the earth.
