I would up the vitamin C to about 10 grams daily, in divided doses. Silver is also awesome. I would try that in place of the iodine, put silver in a spray bottle and keep spraying your lip as you have a chance. If you catch a cold sore while it is just a tingle, you can ice it and it will go away. Though you have to hold ice on it for 30-60 minutes until the tingle is gone.

I've had many cold sores since I started my detoxing 2 years ago--I've come to look at them as a very unpleasant detoxing symptom. One thing I've learned about vit C supplementation is that it's a good idea to avoid the ascorbic acid version. Cold sores are related to acidic blood and are aggravated (caused?) by it. The more acidic your blood, the more your cold sore will flare up (at least, that's the case for me).

I had a cold sore 2 weeks ago, forgot this important detail, took a whole bunch of ascorbic acid and my cold sore grew and grew... Awful.
