Hi this is my first post to this forum, and my question is pretty much summed up in the subject. I have always been a night owl staying up late and going to bed around 1 or 2 am. But over the last couple of years that has changed to being up all night and getting to bed around 5am, 6am and sometimes 7 am or later. For the most part, I am up all night and tend to go to bed around 6 am or when day break hits. After I go to sleep I sleep soundly, so it is not a matter of not being able to sleep, simply a matter of not being able to sleep at night. One piece of information worth noting is that when I slept at my girlfriend's (ex-girlfriend so I don't see her anymore) house (out of town, more in the country, and I now live in a large city) I would start to wake up around 10am and start to go to bed around 1 am or maybe 2 am, which is completely different than I do now. Also, in general, I seemed to have more energy when I stayed with her. Even if I were to stay up all day long with no sleep I still would probably go to bed late again. I have some suspicions. For one thing, the staying up all night seemed to coincide with a mold infestation in my town home. I finally got rid of the main infestation but one room still smells bad (my dads room, he is 91 and has lots of clothes in his room, and the room has kind of a musty smell to it). So I wonder if it is mold or mildew that is keeping me up late. Basically, I think I may have a house with the sick syndrome, a sick or toxic house, whether it is mold or something else. Also there is a lot of clutter and the fen shui is horrible here.
I have a rash from most likely candida that itches only at night but doesn’t bother me during the daytime. Most of my family (at least on my mom’s side of the family) has been night owls. Is this a hereditary situation: an inherited gene? Can a night person ever change to a morning person?
Anyway, other suspicions are that it might be toxins from parasites or worms causing this. About the time the itch goes away I can sleep, but it is not the itch that is keeping me up as I can use an antifungal topical medication to quell the itch. However, the itch could be because some parasite or parasites are more active at night. I have read that certain parasites give off ammonia and that the ammonia can keep you up late, and that orthonine taken at night, and l.arginine taken in the morning gets rid of or neutralizes the ammonia, and the orthonine at night is suppose to help you sleep (my next step is to try these products). Of course the candida gives off toxins too, and molybdenum with panthenine is suppose to neutralize those toxins and the molybdenum supposedly transforms the toxins into energy (I bought the molybdenum and panthenine but they did nothing, however one post said that only the liquid molybdenum worked for her, so I will try that). Also, just in general, I feel that a toxic body (which I have) is simply out of balance and may throw off the natural sleep cycle. I just read a post about someone who could not sleep at night due to having low cortisol in the morning. OR I think it said that they could not get up in the morning due to low cortisol. So this could be hormone related also.
Hormones, parasites,. Toxic liver, toxic body, toxic house, low cortisol and even PTSD (post traumatic stress syndrome) and unbalanced fen shui are all possible suspects. Please keep in mind that I can sleep once I get to sleep, it is just that I can’t sleep until 6 am. Any thoughts on this? Appreciated anyone’s help on this. Also, has anyone else cured themselves of this or been able to switch from being a night owl to a daytime person?
