They say you can get rid of a myriad of diseases by OP, but I haven't experienced any thing different except for my gums and teeth. I'm sure it will draw bacteria from the mouth so that it doesn't get into the body,
I only do it in the morning, but I guess others do it more often. I think that my teeth are whiter, but I also use a herbal teeth whitening tooth paste too. The main thing is it has helped my gums, and it cleans the food particles that can get trapped in the teeth that brushing doesn't get.
Apparently it keeps the plaque from forming on the teeth as I notice my teeth cleanings at the dentist are very short compared to before I was doing the OP.
I can recommend it.
Oil pulling is very good but it will interfere with the fast while water fasting.
Please explain how.

To guess, I would say it's because the oil is stimulating the salivary glands which then sends a message to the stomach to prepare for the arrival of food.
That's interesting. Never thought of that, and never was bothered by it when I fasted.
I have always been in the "fasting zone" (I guess you would call it) because I take the time (week or two) to set up my intentions and goals of what the fast will be like. I do this through self hypnosis.
Basically programming my subconscious mind about all the particulars of the fast, from what I expect during the fast, to how long I plan on fasting if all is well, and no unforeseen problems arise.
This makes the fast easy because you are not winging it from day to day hoping you won't succumb to hunger. You already know that you won't consume anything but distilled water for X number of days.
Hello sassyfire,
I learned from reading various books. It's been to many years to remember the titles, but there were many of them. I have found that this approach to learning anything is the best way. Get different Approaches, opinions, and tips, then through trial and error find out what works best for you. To this day I still make changes in my approach based on new information.
As recently as a year or so ago I was given a $100 gift certificate to Amazon.com for my birthday. I used it to buy a home study course of 16 audio CD's by "Steven Gurgevich PH.D." that is a comprehensive study of not only self hypnosis, but how it is related to the communication of body and mind. Each CD has a couple of health issues that can be addressed through hypnosis. And more to the point of our discussion on this forum he states :
"helps you unlock the mind-body connection to optimize physical health, break unwanted habits, improve concentration and mental agility_whatever you set your mind to achieve."
So, just start anywhere. If you are interested you will keep going until you learn it.
Glad you are going to check out self hypnosis. I know it will be a big asset in your fasting, or anything else you want to do.
I've mentioned this before, but we are all programmed from birth (actually before) to accept certain beliefs that may, or may not be best for us. This was mostly done by well meaning people who were given these same beliefs by other well meaning people. You can change those beliefs, and habits through hypnosis.
Using an analogy, the mind is like a computer in that it runs software, and that software can be changed, or updated. The sub conscious mind is the software of the brain, and can also be changed. If there is any doubt about the mind body connection, I suggest you read "The Genie in your Genes" By Dawson Church.
"Editorial ReviewsProduct Descriiption
He coins the new term "Epigenetic Medicine" to describe healing techniques with epigenetic effects. He also summarizes the science behind the infant fields of Energy Psychology and Energy Medicine, both of which offer promising epigenetic medical therapies, and describes a few of the thousands of powerful personal breakthroughs that are being achieved by therapists, doctors and lay people praticing these techniques. The Genie in Your Genes shows that there is a sound theoretical framework, based on credible experiments, for understanding these astonishing results, and predicts that the insights of Epigenetic Medicine will dramatically advance the fields of both medicine and psychology in the coming decade.
Best of all, The Genie in Your Genes demonstrates that, by taking control of our consciousness and using it to influence our genetic expression, we can sometimes bypass years of therapy, as well as harmful drugs and invasive surgeries, to, in effect, do continuous genetic engineering on our own bodies. This can produce both immediate relief from long-standing anxieties and neuroses, as well as "miraculous" healing of persistent physical conditions, especially autoimmune diseases.
Among a new crop of books that chart the way to a positive health future, The Genie in Your Genes stands out as a solidly grounded and exciting pointer to the future possibilities of a medicine that links soul to body and mind. "
Additional books related to self hypnosis that will compliment the learning of hypnosis is anything on Visualizations, and mind suggestion. One book I can recommend is this one, although he has written several others.

Just a few suggestions. If you have any questions, I will be glad to try and answer them.
Not being educated on the subject, I cannot argue the point, but I think it is a stretch to say that you derive any nutrional value from OP.
If I understand it correctly, it has a drawing effect from the swishing the oil in the mouth which traps the bacteria in the oil. It is not swallowed, and your mouth is then cleaned by brushing, and rinsing.
If anything, it would seem to be a bonus to fasting in that it eliminates (detoxes) muck before it has a chance to go through the normal channels of elimination deep in the body.
Also since it doesn't get to the stomach, and digestive system, it would have no effect on fasting since it would not take energy away from the body detox that is the purpose of fasting.
I do extended fast regularly, and have no problems with my teeth turning yellow. I do OP, and I do brush my teeth with a herbal toothpaste that doesn't have sodium lauryl, or some other chemical in it while fasting. Naturally I rinse after brushing without swallowing anything.
Contrary to what you might have read here as long as it isn't swallowed to get to the stomach, and digestive system it will not affect the fast.
If you are going to worry about something getting into the body via the skin, then you will be pretty gross from smelling because you wouldn't be able to shower with soap, and the water better be filtered to get the chlorine, and flouride out of it, all for the length of the fast. Then you will have to have washed your clothes in this filtered water also without using any soap. Don't use anything in your hair, and don't forget to wear your space suit complete with oxygen so you don't inhale any of the pollution that you are going to encounter on the way to work, or where ever you go.
