I am sooo happy I saw this thread ! Three years ago we found a very small white dog inside our back porch at 6:30 am. It was in April, and very, very cold outside. Someone had apparently thought that we should have this dog, because both her eyes were completely covered with cataracts, and even if one of us had accidentally left the porch gate open, she could never have seen to walk up the steps. We live way out in the country, and it's not possible for a vehicle to come up our long driveway and not be seen and heard by us when we are awake, so I guess she was a midnight gift.
When I first saw her shivering and huddled up in the corner, I didn't even know what she was. She was such a mess. White hair about 3
inches long, matted to the skin. Filthy dirty, wet, stinky, freezing cold, and frightened. I scooped her up and brought her inside to get a good look at her. She was an adult, and 5 pounds. I gave her a little food and water, and put her in a small crate with a blanket, so she could calm down, warm up, and relax. She never made a sound, she didn't cry to get out, and I was grateful that she was resting peacefully. A little later I called every vet in town, the dog shelter, all the groomers, and no one had heard of anyone missing a dog. So that pretty much nailed it for me; she was a gift.
Then I got her out of the crate and sat for a little while with her on my lap. She seemed to have no tail at all, and I thought that extremely odd. I used to raise and show several of the toy breeds, and didn't remember any of them not having a tail ! Then I put her in the sink and gave her a bath. I lathered her up several times, and got most of the smell out, then dried her with my blow dryer. She never protested once, and I knew then that she had been at one time, groomed on a regular basis. But still no tail. It wasn't until the next day when she finally relaxed completely, and there was about a 3
inch tail, just wiggling away. She had obviously been so frightened, that she had tucked that tail so tightly to her body that I had not seen it, not even in her bath.
The next day, none of the people I had called had called me back to say they knew who she belonged to, so I said she's ours, and took her to the closest groomer, and then to our vet. When I picked her up from the groomer, it was obvious that she was a purebred toy poodle. Her hair had to be cut very short due to the mats, but they left as much as they could. She was BEAUTIFUL ! So sparkly white and clean.
The vet told me that she had a Stage 4 heart murmur. Stage 5 is end stage cardiac disease, but he said that other than her cataracts, she was in good health.
So she became Miss Poodle, Noodles, Miss P, and Pooh. All my babies have had lots of nicknames. The cataracts hurt me so much, because I loved her so, and wanted her to be able to see our faces, and her new home. I began to research online, and ended up ordering some L-Carnisine eye drops. After a few months, her cataracts began to clear; she had about 40% cleared, but even the "clear" areas were still a little opaque. I kept her on them for 8 months, then stopped them and put her on MSM eye drops. The cataracts started clearing a little faster, but she still could not really see.
When the flu hit Mexico in March this year, I began researching it, and ended up on a web site about
Colloidal Silver . Then I spent weeks reading up on it. Not willing to pay $40 for a 4 ounce bottle, I bought a
Colloidal Silver generator, and a table model water distiller, and began making our own. Joined this web site, decided the
Colloidal Silver is effective for many ailments, and one day it dawned on me that I could put them in her eyes. About 2 weeks later I noticed that every time she was on my lap when I moved my arm, she would flinch as if she thought I was going to strike her. I took a good look at her eyes and was shocked that for the first time I could see some brown in her eyes ! She is about 11 years old according to our vet, and I will continue the Colloidal Silver to her eyes for the rest of her life, which I pray will be very long and healthy.
I make her food home-made. She gets a sort of organic chicken stew, alternating with organic beef stew; lots of vegetables in them, and a little applesauce mixed in, to which I add her nutritional supplements, a tablespoon of CS, and a nutritional supplement that is supposed to be good for heart health. When I graduated nursing school, I went to work on the cardiac unit of one of the hospitals in Dallas. That was years ago. One day I had a long delayed light bulb moment, and I got out my cardiac stethoscope and listened to her heart. I will tell you that it was one of the most shocking moments of my life. Her heart murmur was GONE. Completely gone. I thought something's wrong here, and I listened to my own heart, and heard my little murmur. Listened to her heart again, and no murmur. I still listen to it about once a week, and will continue her on that supplement too, for the rest of her life. I give thanks every night before I sleep that I was guided to this web site, to Colloidal Silver, MSM, and her cardiac supplement.
As I said earlier, we live out in the country (in Tennessee now,) and many of the people in our area are a little older. We never did find out how she came to be on our back porch that morning, but decided that she must have lived with an elderly lady who must have passed away, and whichever family member took her in was unable to care for her. I wish they could see her now !
