Hello,
I am currently "owned" by 4 cats and 1 dog- all rescued from the streets. I noticed the newest "member" of my family brought worms with him. I am living in China and have gone to the vets only when absolutely necessary (spaying/neutering, vaccinations-they will come back to Canada when I go home for good) Finding a good vet here is difficult and some of them don't even treat cats. I have always tried to find natural remedies for any problems they might have-luckily that hasn't happened often.Earmites have been the biggest problem but I found that putting olive oil in their ears fixed it. I am going to be getting some Diatomaceous Earth powder soon and would like to tackle this worm problem that way-as opposed to a chemically medicine way. My question is this. How am I gonna get my cats to eat this stuff? My dog I think will be no problem, he is on the raw food diet and I'm thinking I'll mix some of the DE powder into his mashed veggies.Good idea? Don't know if the dog has worms but want to prevent them.
My cats are going to be a huge problem!!! Am sure 2 of them has worms thanks to the new guy, possibly a third has them, she has a pretty big potbelly/very unproportioned to the rest of her body.Unfortunately they are on the commercial dry food diet. So I am thinking I will put the DE powder in their community magnetized waterbowl. BUT. Do they also need another plain water bowl? I know that if the cats have the choice of 2 bowls to drink from they will not drink from the DE bowl. I am also gonna cover my kitchen sink so they don't try drinking the water that collects in dishes or whatever is in the sink waiting to be washed. I have to import this powder and that is expensive so I need to use the DE powder wisely and get the most use out of it. I know that I can rub it on their body also but that is going to be impossible for 2 of the cats. I would come out of that situation with millions of scratches. I want to get rid of the worms and then perhaps use the DE powder as prevention. Also has anyone used
parasite tinctures for their cats?
