Hi Silk2,
I just came to see if you found my post and seen your new one. Just wanted to tell you that even the other symptoms you described now go exactly with the pattern I mentioned last time, we call it Spleen deficiency - but means the whole digestion.
I know that you think that fruit and vegies are easy to digest, I did as well. But if you feel bloated after every meal - isn't that sign that they are not so easy to digest? I will just try to describe how the other symptoms come around, chinese medicine language is very poetic language, so sound very different from western medicine, sometimes weird, when I started studying I had problem accepting some ideas, but really works in practice, so now I don't. Your Spleen (or digestion) needs to be nourished by good quality balanced diet. If it's not healhy then it can't produce sufficient quality and amount of blood - so you loose your period, muscles and body tissues are not nourished, so you are loosing weight and your extremities are not nourished by blood -(you cannot feel your hands and feets. I would not be surprised if you sometimes felt tingling or numbness in other body extremities as well - nose, ears, top of the head. Also if Spleen doesn't work properly, it will stop transforming and transporting our food and drink efficiently, the mass will grow and stagnate - and this is how phlegm is generated in chinese medicine. Then it can travel (in your case blocking nose and ears and taste cells so you can't smell and taste, but phlegm can travel everywhere and if it travels to joints can cause
Arthritis as well (but depends on the type of arthritis, artritis can be generated in different ways, if its from phlegm it would be characterized by pain, soreness and swelling in muscles and joints, with a feeling of heaviness and numbness in the limbs. The pain has a fixed location and is aggravated by damp weather.)
With kidney pain - in Chinse medicine Kidney are the seat of our life force, of the energy which we got pregiven before our birth (might sound ridiculous, but again, works in practice). This energy needs to be nourished by energy produced by Spleen and digestion, if its not it will become depleted, our lower back will hurt, and bones and knees are exactly the parts of body which are under control of kidney, so they will hurt as well. And if our life energy is depleted, we will inevitably get depressed as well.
I write all this because I think that in your case the diet is the main point which need to change and which is causing all your symptoms. By eating balanced and nourishing food (and WARM in temeprature, but also quality, fruit and veggies have very cold quality, become less so by cooking) your system will gradualy become stronger and the symptoms will disapear or become less intense. It is not possible to cure all the diseases, but what we can do - we can get them under control, minimise the symptoms and learn to recognise them when they are coming, know what to do to get them under control so we can live our life as fully as possible. And then we can say that we are healthy even if we have a disease. I have some symptoms of unsufficient quality of Blood as well (if I'm not careful with my diet can get really bad), phlegm (coming again if i'm not careful with my diet and eat lot of cheese and youghurts, shakes if I overdo it with working and studying and many other thigs. but i feel healthy because I learned to control them (actually that was probably the reason why I started studying chinese medicine)
Don't worry - you can get better, doesnt matter if the ilness is congenital or not (I don't think you can totally get rid of Crohn, but you can control it quite well and I really don't think you have cystic fibrosis, you would be spending every morning a few hours with a physio doing postural drainage - they would try to get the thick phlegm out of your langs by tapping on your back and other techniques, so it doesnt block your lung totaly. majority cases of CF are diagnosed in babies, the rest before or during adolescence. You would definitely know about it if you had CF, taking tones of drugs would be the only way to survive more than few weeks!)
But don't believe me, do some research and most importantly - listen to your body. It will tell you what is good for it! healing crisis shouldn't last longer than 1-2 months. changes sometimes bring negative reaction, but this should be relieved in a few days or weeks in worst case.
Enough writing, time to go to work. I just quickly found some link throuhg google where you can find more about nourishing spleen,

and I'm sure you will find much more about helping your digestion if you look for 'nourishing spleen'.
So, Silk2, good luck on your way and don't worry, try to enjoy your time here, we all have troubles and ilnesess but have to try to make our time here worthy.
For MsPep - I'm really glad that you like what I wrote about spleen, hope you can find something for yourself there. Also, you mentioned that you are going to get some herbs through a web site. Before you spend your money, I think would be better if you could consult someone who can make diagnosis specificaly for you. otherwise its gonna be more-less just guessing. if you consult a herbalist they would give you a specific mixture for your symptoms, this way it should be more effective, because is tailored only for you. I just study acupuncture and have to wait to get to herbs, its postgraduate study, but I know they can be really effective if well chosen.
Good luck, guys.
