dogma? ... again, rather presumptious. Very rarely do I ever respond directly to posts, so I hardly qualify as the old sage preaching from the pulpit but more a voice of concern with first hand hard earned experience and most certainly with no intentions to spark a debate. The effects of these drugs is wide and far reaching. Its easy to trade off the long term risks for a moment of immediate gratification (i.e. "I slept like a baby") in a moment of frustration or weakness. Regardless, it seems likely that you will do as you will.

Couple more minor points FYI, the dosages in that paste are not based on human consumption, rather the distinct equine physiology. Praziquantel is typically dosed out (for humans) in 600 to 800 mg every 6 to 8 hours, depending on what you are treating. The amount of praz in the paste is miniscule by comparison, something like 7.75% by volume. This is 1mg per kg body weight in one dose versus the 40 to 60mg per kg body weight in divided doses recommended in humans. I'll leave the math to you to complete at your leisure. Also, not sure where you live, but here in the U.S., it is, in fact, a misdemeanor crime to purchase and administer any drug for other than its intended purpose. Taking these meds unsupervised for undiagnosed conditions and at random doses can lead us down a slippery slope. I'm glad to see you have suffered no (short term) ill effects and wish you the same luck in the future.

In closing, might I ask how your venture with fasinex/triclabendazole faired?

I wont comment on your choice of taking the parasite meds, but I want to ask what color those sesame seeds had, black, beige?

I think 55213 was trying to help and caution you of what can occur when self medicating with pharm drugs. it wasn't a criticism. those animal medications of praz and ivermectin are what's used for people and that was the point...that these drugs carry risk, especially when taken without medical supervision as we don't have full understanding of how many types of parasites there may be, and the extent of burden. these determine degree of risk. they also are some of the considerations for type of dosing and time line. the problem isn't the drug itself, it is ineffective dosing has the potential of causing more harm and worsening an already bad condition.

it's very frustrating because we get no help from doctors on this, they generally will not believe people can have worms, let alone infestation and will sooner diagnose you delusional with referral for psychiatric consult. I know how you feel taking this into your own hands, doing whatever you feel you must to be well. actually I've done things in haste and desparation ...it wasn't smart, and I got worse as a result. which is not to say this will happen to you, only to be careful as you may not have been aware of the risks. it's risk of scattering or hyperimmune response to dieing parasites, which can be far and away anything we may experience on herbs. I'm glad you're okay, just be careful.

Good choice. Trust your judgement, and go easy at first, and back off if anything weird happens, that's all. If there is fluke, it may be hard to spot. They are like little leaves, and you can see the internal stuctures if you put it on glass and hold it to the light. Shroom

Interesting thing I read recently regarding horses; that those with heavier infestation faired the worse with meds than others, and the harder they were dewormed the worse they became, calling into question the practise of routinely deworming horses without consideration of level of infestation, scattering and resistance.

As for Hulda, great thinker. Bought her book back in 1995 (??). Great ideas in her book albeit a tad anectdotal and she would appear to me to be the orginator, or at least the organizer of most of the modern herbal clenses, although countless claims to the contrary do exist. The herbal perspective is completely different than medical, emphasizing a slow methodical approach as opposed to the "hit and run" medical technique. There is still so much that we don't know or understand about parasites and the very complex immunological and physiological relationships they form with their hosts. Eventually, I believe that the medical community will come to acknowledge, much as what Hulda states, that parasites are the root, or at the very least, underlying cause of most common diseases. Doubtful that we will actually see this in our life time however.
