"
Iodine Forum s are needed................."
Absolutely agree...
“I do read and follow all three
Iodine forums. Learned a good bit from each.”
That is what we would all hope for… that people can read and learn; perhaps even applying the “learned” information to their own needs and circumstances in order to improve their health.
“…the complimentary supplements. IP-6, large doses of vitamin C, himalayan
Sea Salt , a good multi-mineral supplement, and on and on. Without the
Iodine forums I would never have known about these, except the vitamin C.”
I find it hard to believe that you did not discover most of these things without the
Iodine forums in your 3 years on CZ. In those three years, you have contributed on many forums including the Ask Andreas, Ask Barefoot, Ask Curezone, Water, and even dropped into the Ask Moreless forum to take a jab or two.
“a good multi-mineral supplement” you say?
You apparently were not comprehending moreless's mantra about the importance of ALL minerals. Barefoot and Andreas have both had many posts on the very real need and importance of minerals... the "ideal" delivery method of these minerals for use in the body may be an item for debate among the forums, however their importance and need is not.
Perhaps it is not the suggestion of the importance of “Sea salt”, or the very real need for “minerals”, including the trace minerals specifically that you objected to in your three years on CZ, but the many people you refused to listen to or perhaps believe. So, if I get this right, it took specific/certain individuals to start believing and supporting these protocols before you “chose” to heed them.
Like a child/person who will never, ever, take advice from their parent or an authority figure, but will take and accept the SAME advice of a so called friend or peer. I see that a lot on CZ, especially since the advent of the
Iodine Forum s. People doing the same things now that they were very, in some cases vocally, so set against before the
Iodine Forum s came along and they then accepted them.
What changed? What opened their eyes?
Some of these same people are those that use the term “sheeple”... when they themselves are little more than this as evidenced by their historical actions and behaviors.
So many people CHOOSE to hear and/or comprehend what they are hearing/reading dependent upon who delivers the message. God help them if the deliverer of the message is wrong or makes a critical mistake as it relates to them.
“My health has gained by leaps and bounds since I started the iodine. Much healthier now than even last year. A great deal of the benefits are DIRECTLY RELATED TO IODINE.”
Yes the iodine is essential, but how much benefit can you attribute to the iodine alone? none... especially if you are taking any or all of the adjunct supplemental protocol. It is a collective ingredient success... a synergistic response.
You seem to be stating specifically here that it “is” the iodine, yet you make mention of and reference adjunct supplementation, including IP6. Contradiction? What the heck?
Sounds like a contradiction to me. Health success cannot “JUST” be the iodine if you are indulging in the adjunct protocols; impossible.
“IF” iodine works SO MUCH better with the included adjunct protocol, as the doctors themselves have been clear to observe and pass on, why do people insist on giving all the glory to iodine alone? This is extremely misleading and I think a major bone of contention with those that can see through this. SHAKES HEAD. This is a misdirection of both truth and fact.
On IP6…
Are you aware of the contraindications of the concurrent use of iodine and IP6?
Are you aware of all the work on IP6? Both sides of the IP6 story?
Almost a month ago I posted this…
“Iodine and iron is another example... they seem to go well, and work very well together... Why would we want to use IP6 in order to chelate iron when we may have an iodine deficiency?”
//www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=1004586#i
Did anybody notice these words at all?
Perhaps some noticed, but did not want to elaborate or discuss for fear of being isolated away from a group… who knows? At any rate, the sentence did not even spur a casual conversation about this VERY IMPORTANT issue.
Chelating iron while taking iodine will cause the iodine to become less available, ineffective... iron is essential to its efficacy.
http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/abstract/71/1/88
Are you aware that IP6 is NOT recommended for those who may be anemic, NOT recommended for growing children, AND NOT recommended for pregnant women as taking IP6 can affect fetal growth, stealing vital minerals away from a developing fetus?
If IP6 chelates free minerals from the system, how is the fetus to get nourishment.
*......carcinogenesis (61). Iron deficiency is common in this model...dietary iron binds to IP6, it will significantly...result in more severe iron-deficiency anemia, loss of body...that administration of IP6 in both DSS and non-DSS......

IP6 apparently works in part by causing red blood cells to release their oxygen into the tissues. If this is so and we take too much IP6, can our red blood cells then take up oxygen as they are supposed to when the time comes? Or does taking IP6 in excess cause the taking up of oxygen by the red blood cells to malfunction? Can this lead to or become a primary cause of a chronic condition? Yes it can...
Do you know what is enough and not enough IP6 for yourself, let alone others? Do you really want to take IP6 at the same time as supplementing with iodine? Doing so, is like throwing your iodine supplement money away as you are diminishing the essential/necessary co-factors, including iron, zinc and other minerals needed for utilizing iodine in the first place. It is also like throwing your multi-mineral supplement away... what does IP6 chelate again?
I surely wish people would THINK, think for themselves instead of getting sucked into a “group” think or thought.
Are you aware that in most cases IP6 is best used by those who may be experiencing mineral and/or iron overloads? Not those who may have mineral deficiencies... which is most people. Would not it be better in the face of a calcium overload to ensure adequate magnesium and potassium intake along with a bit of calcium restriction? Why use something like IP6 that may adversely effect the balancing act as apposed to treating the singular conditions at hand?
I would say, for the most part, those that would see some benefit from IP6, would be adult middle aged+ males and perhaps, post menopausal females, if then, and only IF there are no known issues with iron, zinc, magnesium, or other trace mineral deficiencies.
One would want to also keep in mind when taking IP6 that it will affect, negatively, the growth potential of new cells and muscle tissue as it will be chelating the very minerals necessary for their growth and regeneration.
That said, I will never say that IP6 does not have value under certain circumstances, nor am I going to say that an adult male or post menopausal female would not benefit from a one month course of IP6 once a year, just as I believe occasional iodine use is valuable. However, IP6 supplementation must be well thought out on an individual by individual needs basis.
Check this out…

Read through them… and then tell me that IP6 would be indicated in these circumstances that includes iron deficiency. Notice this is straight from the iodine4health site that is so revered. Where did this IP6 idea get started? If IP6 reduces iron in the blood (remember the IP6 releasing of oxygen from red blood cells? think!), and iron is needed to carry oxygen, what in the heck are we taking it for? We better be absolutely certain we understand why and understand a very real need.
If iron is too high... this could be bad, however, likewise if iron is too low.
This is TRUE with any single substance and WHY any supplementation should always be understood and applied on an individual needs basis. It is also WHY, supplementation is such a tricky business, a slippery slope.
One mans poison is another mans food.
Why would we ever want to chelate iron and zinc, among other minerals with IP6, when they are essential for proper iodine utilization? Is it not contraindicated? At minimum, concurrently?

Supplementing is a fine tuned art, to be applied individually as needs arise, not something to be applied in a one size fits all willy nilly fashion because somebody comes along and says so.
There are all kinds of reasons why one would NOT want to use IP6 UNTIL they were absolutely certain that they were not deficient in minerals AND possibly able to maintain adequate levels of minerals in the body for vital functions during the course of IP6 use. Likewise there may be times when someone would want to use IP6, but I would suggest NOT concurrently with iodine use... you could be throwing your money away.
IMO, an individual full spectrum mineral analysis would most likely be indicated before assessing need and embarking on the use of IP6...
