Post-Days 5, 6 and 7
As a conclusion
Date: 8/5/2007 11:59:41 AM ( 17 y ) ... viewed 2503 times This is exactly how far my promises about a new diet go, I've already had a few tastes of lollies, and a donut and some rye pancakes weren't that healthy either... Generally I've kept my ground pretty well, I've repeatedly turned down offers of dairy such as ice cream, and I haven't _indulged_ on anything bad. All in all, I'm pretty happy with how things are looking at the moment.
My elimination seems to be working fine and I haven't been douching any more, but I've recently added soaked and ground flax seeds to my diet just in case.
I've had some skin problems, both during and after the fast, the most affected spots being my upper back, and back of the neck. I think going to the sauna has helped and prevented my skin from getting worse.
One thing that is clear is that I haven't needed to tighten the belt I wear around my hips since there was never any extra around there, but the belt I wear around my waist, as the last fashion demands, I've needed to tighten a whole two notches. Wow!
Today's the first day I've had meat, I had some chicken in a very veggie-rich wok dish we made today. Another good reason to enjoy some of those flaxseed.
As a conclusion, the fast was a success once again, and learning from my unmotivated attitude problem I will eat more wisely from now on to avoid the need to fast any more than maybe once a year. I feel mentally alert again, my energy levels are good, and I'm happy about having had the chance to share the expericence with mum. Support is so important, mentally this fast was waaaay easier than last time when I was doing it all alone in the middle of very unsupportive people! The only con I can think of related to the fast is me still having heaps of memory problems and I keep losing the thought very quickly and having big trouble trying to regain it, but I'm optimistic about fixing this as well. Probably my memory loss has nothing to do with the fast anyway.
Tips for next time: Do it with a friend. Make all of your own juices. Prepare properly for a whole week, also mentally. Remember the saunas. Relax, make it easy for yourself, try to have an easy week at work. Do moderate exercise such as riding a bike or walking. Smile a lot. Breathe deep. Listen to music, and clean up!
