Cat Whisperer
The leader of the pack

It was 2 days ago that my patience was stretched to the breaking point. Beyond frustrated, I wondered what I could do for her(or should do to her!). Anyway when she came to me, meowing nonstop like a broken record, I said in a firm loud voice, Be Quiet! After all, I had read a cat book that said that's what you're supposed to do. Well, it didn't really work. Whenever I said something to her, she just responded with another meow. For example; Be (meow) Quiet (meow) Now (meow). The thought occured to me that if she was a child, that behavior would be considered back talk. Looking at her, and at the end of my rope, I made eye contact with her, while letting out an ear splitting meow of my own. Kitty was shocked silent. The key word being SILENT. She went and sat down to contemplate what had just happened. It's now day three and I no longer have to sleep with earplugs. When she regresses into that unproductive behavior,I find I don't always have to go for the MEOW. I can simply make eye contact, point at her and say No! When that happens she and I both realize that the tables have turned, and the Alpha human is back in charge.
