Last night it was around midnight when I was finally able to fall asleep after having gotten into bed at 10:30p. I was having pretty uncomfortable cramps related to an unwelcome visitor. You know the one at the end of this sentence. I decided to get up & watch a little Desperate Housewives. After laying out in the living room on my heating pad for a while, finally I zonked! Which is good because I was exhausted! I awoke early the next morning around 6ish after a night of weird dreams. No need to go into detail about that. Let’s just leave it at weird & let your imagination have a field day. When I awoke, I had an incredible urge to pee. I also had a pounding headache behind my eyes & my mouth was very dry.
After taking care of business, I grabbed a sleep mask (since the sun was up) and went right back to bed with the hopes of getting at least one more hour in.
I wouldn’t say I got an hour but I did get enough so that by the time I awoke the 2nd time the headache was virtually gone & I had to pee again.
Once up I decided to make my 1st drink.
4 Carrots
1 Avocado
½ Cucumber
1 Wedge of onion (about the size you would cut from an apple for a child)
1 Celery stalk
1 Handful of cherry tomatoes
I have taken to straining my juice a few times before drinking it & I do not dilute it with water. After my 1st juicing experiment tasted so incredibly watery I have been taking it like a woman – Straight up! It tasted pretty good – Although I have noticed that if I fill an entire glass it takes me longer to drink than if I use a 6oz cup & go for a refill. I am sure its psychological. Who cares, it works!
This time the onion was spot on – anymore & it would have overpowered.
I love avocado but I don’t think it got along with my juicer, I was watching & I really didn’t see anything juice from it, it just mushed up very nicely inside & made for a pretty cool carrot & avocado dip that my dog just gobbled up. Oh by the way, I think my dog LOVES that I am juicing. He comes running every time I grab some veggies & flip that switch.
I’m enjoying my concoctions but I think I need to learn to taste things on a one on one basis so I can really get a feel for what tastes like what. With the exception of onion, I already know what that tastes like :-)
Midmorning snack….
4 Granny Smith Apples (I really need to get more apples)
2 Scoops of that pineapple stuff (I really need to get fresh pineapple)
2 Tangerines (large)
All the milk from a small coconut (poured straight into the mix)
½ a lemon (I learned my lesson from before)
2 shakes of cinnamon
2 Inch Squares of Ginger Root (pealed)
Actually I made so much because I had to take it to work with me as well. Help me here, any ideas about how to remain on a Juice fast while working 10 hour days. Should I just skip Juicing & just do water for the afternoon & evening or is there a way I can enjoy the benefits of juicing without having to juice at work. I have been told that its truly best to drink the juice immediately after juicing and to not let it sit. My 1st break is 5 hours into my shift. Something tells me that is a bit too long to have juice sitting. Especially if it is veggie juice.
