Day 1
Someone receives a promotion, gets an important assignment, makes a major discovery, or moves into the president's office. ''He's lucky',' an envious person remarks. ''He gets the breaks; they're always in his favor'.' In reality, luck or the breaks of life had little or nothing to do with it. So-called ''luck'' usually is found at the exact point where preparation meets opportunity. For a time, an individual may get ahead by ''pull',' but eventually someone with push will displace him. Success is not due to a fortuitous concourse of stars at our birth, but to a steady trail of sparks from the grindstone of hard work each day.

Therefore I take pleasure in being without strength, being insulted, experiencing emergencies and being chased and forced into a corner for Christ's sake for when I am without strength, I am dynamite! (translation of 2 corinthians 12:10)
The translation resonates with me because it teaches me one truth about all things in life. Once you accept a situation--whether pleasantly or a predicament--you will transcend it, because you begin to figure out what the next step is instead of wallowing and stalling further in the mire.
Briefly, I will relate my exam preparation in this entry. It has been very difficult to get to my studies the past few days. Considering that exams are less than two weeks away, this is a huge cause of worry and panic. My mind is blocked. My heart is closed. My body is tired. My thoughts are wandering.
This could be attributed to the fact I have not yet gained momentum in my fast, which usually helps me to settle into a predictable and easy rhythm from day 4 onwards. Partly however, this may be due to ineffective revision. Instead of reading and typing out my work, I have decided to try a more fun active approach where after each reading, I sketch out the ideas in order to assist imprinting ideas in my head. It is vital that in medical physiology finals that
1. I see the big picture
2. I nail the fine details
I will update on the progress of this new method of revision.
Take a step back. I realize that I have experienced great upheavals in my life for quite a while now--poor health, abuse, eating disorders, academic pressures. However, I am beginning to emerge a new butterfly from my dark cacoon, a beauty with many gifts and dreams that motivate. I have the aptitute to go far, it all rests now on attitude. The trials are in progression and will require constant strive to improve and resolve. This is the difficulty of life. Unless you are dead, there will always be problems to solve. You cannot just brush them aside--like babies crying in the middle of the night--they demand attention.
However, like how the blind preacher of Scotland George Matheson says, " My dear God, I have never thanked you for my thorns. I have thanked you a thousand times for my roses but not once for my thorns."
As each trial, including my exam preparation, confronts me, I will look them squarely in the eye and say, " I am bigger than you." Out of each challenge, I am confident there will be many positive things to beget. And I thank God for each opportunity. Being thankful makes life a little easier to live.
3pm
I purchsed herbaria all natural soaps a while back and decided to use the tea tree oil soap today during shower.
