Shamanic Healing #1, New Diet and Exercise Plan
This entry primarily describes my first shamanic healing and my new weight loss plan.

low-fat dairy as far as dairy goes
no fried foods
no sugar except small amounts of juice, but natural sweeteners OK
white meat only, as far as meats go
organic/healthy condiments and oil (sea salt, organic cold-pressed 100% olive oil, veggie mayonaise, etc.)
It is the same diet I followed last time I wanted to lose weight.
In terms of exercise, for now I am visiting my Dad and have been working with him out in the fields for about five hours a day, getting some exercise that way. But when I return home the plan is to go to the gym daily and try to work my way up to 2 hours a day on the elliptical. I also plan to go on short hikes every day, probably not too rigorous.
The addition of the hiking to my daily activities is good exercise, but I am also doing it because of the shamanic healing work that I did on May 1st. I had a private consultation with one of the healers at The Four Winds Society in Utah. I found that my energy is compromised at the first chakra and we did some work there. One of the things that the healer said I should do is spend time in nature. Together we realized that it is an important part of my life. Being in nature helps keep me spiritually grounded. We traced some of the restrictions in my first chakra to the loss of the freedom and happiness that I had known growing up in a log cabin surrounded by nature from birth to age five. At age 6 or so, my family moved to town and away from the place that had been my first home and an early sanctuary. The healer also gave me the "bands of light," which strengthen connection to the natural world. These he wove into my luminous energy body, which is the Incan shamanic term for the physical energy field (though this definition is not perfect). After the session, I found that my hallucinations had decreased in volume some, which I expect will be permanent. Also, I have felt an increase in spiritual power and an increased connection to nature since this session. I plan to do a second session on June 1st, though that will probably be the extent of my shamanic work for now.
Finally, before I sign out I want to mention that I have decided to start up a monthly regimen of natural progesterone cream. Although I originally intended to do this under the guidance of an NP and with the aid of hormone tests, I have changed my mind. I still might go to a midwife to get the hormone tests and guidance if I find that this is covered by my insurance company, but otherwise I'm going to try it on my own. I had a full panel of hormone tests done about three years ago, but when I tried taking the cream it made me quite sick. I have since been diagnosed with endometriosis, and I wonder if it was the endometrial growths that I had but which I didn't know I had that caused such a violent reaction to the progesterone. I do not know if this is the case, but I am going to try again, this time at a lower initial dose, and if all goes OK I will raise the level of the dose from there. Previously, it was recommended that I take 40 mg morning and night for part of the month. It is still my goal to work my way up to that, at least until my hormone levels have stabilized.
