Blog: Attempted Fruitarian (let's see if I can do it!)
by lynda22

Waited to post again until I actually started...

Getting started on the fruit, finally. A couple days late, but I'm trying to take it easy so I don't get frustrated.

I didn't start when I'd originally planned. My boyfriend and I are both far too into food to be helpful to each other with that stuff, and I think I wasn't QUITE ready. He was over here this weekend, so we indulged a little. Weekends are always hard for me too. I'm not saying those are good excuses, but it's why I didn't start as planned.
So today's my first day on fruit. I have eaten some pistachios and a banana so far. Not remotely hungry right now. Actually, I feel kind of bad about starting out with the nuts, when I should have started with an apple or something. I probably shouldn't buy anymore nuts until I've really gotten more into the fruit aspect, because otherwise I'll eat nothing but nuts. So I'm forcing myself to eat a banana, though I'm not really hungry. I did drink coffee. I'm probably going to be a couple of days getting off coffee I think. But I don't intend to keep drinking it for long. I just have tried the "cold-turkey" approach before, and it never lasts. So I'm not beating myself up for my slow start here. I know I'm as close to ready as I've been, and I feel confident that if I'm not overly rigid about it in these first few days, that I'll quickly find myself on track. If in a week, I'm still drinking coffee and gorging on nuts, I'll have to crack down. But I'm taking it easy for now. I don't want to burn myself out before I even start feeling good.
I have to read ALL DAY today for class. Later I'm gonna go for a walk, since it's a beautiful afternoon, but most of the rest of the evening will be spent lying prone with a book. I've got some organic grapes I'm gonna dig into later. I also have a canteloupe ripening and some nectarines that should be good to eat in a few days. I got some dried fruit (not organic) that tastes SO crappy. I might rinse it and see if that helps. Yuck, it tastes like chemicals.
That's all for now. Boring huh.
