It was named after British Mathematician George Boole...  I was introduced to it in the US Navy, in our computer electronics course...  Then I got further involved when I took a college course "Mathematical Logic" ...  BTW this was one of the  most informative and live changing courses I studied in college... 

Boolean algebra has the elements of "Logic" of truth tables where if you can plug into them; will show the exact outcome, for those circunstances... It is what allows much of our modern world to function...  So you see that this a key part of how we do things today...  Let get your brain up to speed, on this important subject, and then see how your life will be better...   Understanding is the key to success!!
