Spiritual Gardening/Running Marathons

I'm still here!

I am happy to be able to officially call myself a marathoner. I finished the Long Island Half Marathon in under three hours, three hours being the official cutoff time. Anyway, I really pushed myself and as such have been resting all week (no exercise). Today was such a beautiful day that I felt compelled to be 'active' again. I sowed some seeds for chard, beet, cucumbers and canteloupe. Felt good to be moving around and getting lots of fresh air. I stretched my knee which had taken a beating running 13.1 miles without stopping. I think I might take up race walking or get better shoes. I like jogging. Not sure how healthy actual fast running is in terms of making the body age too fast from overexercising. I do know that I felt better than I ever have after the marathon even though I had to take a loooong nap and then put my knee on ice. I just have to learn to run smart. The roads kinda suck for running because they are pretty sloped downward for rain drainage. Plus, I'm heavy and not light on my feet at all.

I think running marathons is a true spiritual experience, as much as gardening. I hope I get to run the New York City Marathon and do some fundraising. I've not blogged in a while which is a shame. I've got a lot to share. I am still working at the same job and loving it. I am purchasing a house with my husband pretty soon as the situation with my in-laws is irreparable. My husband and I long for our own home where we can set out creativity free and begin to think about having children.
