Rabbi said the "F" Word
The Rabbi was concerned my
Planting a Seed might be seen as FLAKY.

Anybody know when the winter Solstice officially begins?
I have it on my mind, on this Very Special Day
of Capturing Inspirations from the Kabbalah Conference
held December 18-19 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt
here in San Diego.
I am writing a series of Blogs on that.

Seeds from this container, barley grains, were planted
in a sacred moment at the Kabbalah Conference, brought
together by the Tiferet Institute. Numbers of us
planted dreams including Rabbi Yakov Travis. Kabbalah
is on its transit into the mainstream, and this historic
event was a watershed mark.

The Rabbi said the "F' word.
I am working that through now
through this Blog.
I have not heard a Rabbi use that word
with me in a long time.
"Flaky!"
--the F Word.
He said it at least twice
and then, when I got to the room
he called in his wife, and Ira Rifkin,
a professional journalist,
to ask if they thought that my reading of
the Sacred Seed Meditation would be
seen as Flaky.
"How do you think this will go over?'
Yakov wanted to know before people would
arrive for this conference.
He first used the word "Flaky" some time
last week. He was enthusiastic
about having me do some photography at the conference.
I told him I did not want to be the main photographer.
I was glad he had another man hired for that.
I told him I would trade for coming to the event,
plus we would make an agreement about sales
of photos.
We were getting along fabulously.
He mentioned that he saw the Conference as
planting a new seed for Kabbalah in some info
he sent.
This is what he wrote:
Think of this forum as a seed being planted. We intend to continue the conversation in both private and public forums, both in person and online. For those interested, there will be opportunities to participate in think-tanks on certain issues and for special yamei iyyun. We hope that this day of reflection will provide a basis for further discussions. Some points might be better addressed at another time or in another venue.
This looked like a perfect opportunity to do a Plant Your Dream
seed planting.
So I sent him a note. He said he liked the idea
but was concerned how this would fly in the mind
of the press and among the academics who were
coming.
Ira and Yakov's wife both went thumbs down.
They did not think it would go over well.
I have been using this seed meditation
for more fifteen years. It is about as
Kabbalistic as you can get.
Gilah, the program director, liked the idea.
There is more to say about this, but my mind
is running tired.
Bottomline, when all was said and done,
Yakov decided to do the planting at the end
during a Chanukah Celebration.
Most of the people had already left.
He was somewhere outside. I knew this was
the time to do it. I moved the seed pot near
the Chanukah candles. My friend and Ally
Moshe Halfon was already playing helped
gather support. Thanks Moshe!!!
Ariella Shira, one of my closest allies,
was lighting candles. I always feel
strong around her.
Gradually the folks here gathered,
including Yakov.
I took off my shoes.
I let go of all my stuff.
I really did not care how many
people were in the space.
I knew what I was about
and was honored to do this
very sacred work.
I asked Ariella to pour some
water over my hands.
I began by saying that
I had been planting seeds dreams
like this for milleniums and that
whatever we planted would surely grow.
It was a powerful Ceremony.
I read from the Seed Dream paper.
"Today I am Planting My Dream.
Today I am Planting a Beautiful Tomorrow.
"As this seed grows, so will my seed dream."
Then I asked Yakov to restate his Seed Dream.
He had imagined I would push in the Barley Seeds.
I pushed in one. I asked the other women
nearby to push in the rest of the seeds.
I said that in the ancient times, it was the women
who did most of the seed planting.
Ariella planted a Seed Dream. I asked Yakov's wife
to plant one. I asked Tamar Frankiel to plant one.
Gilah planted a seed. So did a very lovely woman
singer from Los Angeles.
When all was said and done, she remembered later
another Seed Dream she wanted to plant.
"May I plant one more seed?" She asked.
I pulled out the Holy Box filled with Barley seeds,
a seed used in the ancient days when the Jewish
people had the Holy Temple and would grow this
grain for spiritual purposes as well as sustenance.
It was sweet to experience this ritual.
I felt great power in this ceremony where
we planted the future of seeds for the
Blessings Yacov and others had in mind.
I concluded with a reading of "Job's Prayer."

After the ceremony,
my energies were up
and my confidence levels very
restored.
Tamar had written a lovely book
on Kabbalah and I felt drawn to it.
I wanted to write about it and told her
about this Plant Your Dream blog.
She gave me a copy, and I gave her
a copy of "Job's Prayer" from :"Rekindling of Faith."
When all was said and done,
Gilah, the program director
said, "Yashekoach!"
a word the Jewish people say
when something is Very Well Done.
Planting that Seed
in the earth I had brought:
It was a very special moment
in the History of Peace on Earth.
Plant Your Dream.
It is definitely not a flaky thing to do.
