Dr. Jensen used to tell a story about
his oldest son David who has an inherent
capacity to move at the slow pace of natural growth.

One day, he came into to see his father who was shaving.

"Dad?" said David, "There's something I want to tell you."
"Yes, David?" the doctor said without turning around.
"Well Dad, There's something I think you ought to take care of."
Pause...

"Yes, David?"

"Dad, there's a fire outside and it looks like the house is about
to burn down."

Jensen, of course leapt into action.

There are times in our live that leaping is appropriate,
and other times, when slow down in called for.

There is an incredible movement that is not international
called Slow Food. This is from the San Diego web site.

Gordon Smith, is an old friend from the days when we had
Taylor's Herb Garden in Vista. He ran a restaurant.

Scott Murray is the V.P, and incredible heart felt farmer and
mover and shaker who is also the director of Earth Day San Diego
activity, some of the largest in the nation. He is an old friend.
He and wife Laura have homeschooled three kids. I was amazed
to run into the family a couple weeks ago. The children were all grown,.
The last time i saw them they were tiny. Suprisingly, the little one
remembered me and the EG Mobile, going back ten years.

For additional information, contact Scott Murray, V.P, Slow Food San Diego (760.630.1799, or by email to scottamurray [at] sbcglobal [dot] net) or Gordon Smith, Founder/President (626.824.7015 or by email to gordonstravels [at] sbcglobal [dot] net).

It's exciting to see this movement underfoot.
Scott is on the invite of people i would love to see
at "Organic Celebration at the Hilton!" the three days
of Organic meals.

The Slow Food Movement

Carlo Petrini founded Slow Food as a response to the opening of a McDonalds in Rome´s historic Piazza Spagna in 1986. Since then, Slow Food has grown into a worldwide movement that defends "eco-gastronomy". Slow Food, an organization dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of traditional and artisanal and the advocacy of sustainability, now exists in over 45 countries with more than 70,000 members.

Slow Food USA oversees the activities of more than 12,500 members and 150 chapters, or convivia. The movement works to promote the food traditions that are part of the cultural identity of this country, an identity that is in danger of disappearing forever from the tables of what author Eric Schlosser calls our Fast Food Nation.

150 Local convivia carry out the Slow Food mission at the local level.
They support and promote:
* Educational events and public outreach that encourage the enjoyment of pure foods that are local, seasonal, and organically grown
* Caring for the land and protecting biodiversity for today´s communities and future generations
* Identification, promotion, and protection of economically and ecologically fragile animals, plants, fruits, and vegetables
* Respect and support for artisans who grow, produce, market, prepare, and serve wholesome food
* The revival of the kitchen and the table as centers of pleasure, culture, and economy
* A slower, more harmonious rhythm of life
