This is the picture that Kathy Lebinski was so enthusiastic about,
that is scheduled to go in the San Diego Union Home Section on
Sunday. I will have a byline. There will be no type on it.
IT is Samantha Jara, 13 year granddaughter of Joe Rodriguez Sr.
and daughter of Sylvia Jara, a midwife and the youngest daughter
of the Papa Joe.
Papa Joe had three sons and three daughters.
Most of the family helps out at the FM as well as doing
other work.
They all help out. Collaboration.
Sammy has been working at the FM since she was a tiny little
girl. She is very bright, and extremely photogenic.
She is quite a young lady, very smart, and well brought up.
Not long ago, I asked her, how she was? She answered me
and then said, "And You?" very cordially and really interested.
I was kind of blow away and commented to the parents about this.
The children are well raised and respect elders.
Many of them remember me from their childhood. Before
I had the EG Mobile painted I would let the kids write and draw on
the van. It was kind of fun for all of us. The rain would wash it off
after a while...all the drawings. etc.
Joe the Farmer is the son of Papa Joe.
The family has gone through much hardship over the ten years
I have known them, but they are very resilient.
I am grateful to be part of their family, and celebrate over the years
many Thanksgivings and Christmas at their home.
i have a children Book on the Shelf Called Joe the Farmer.
It is done basically.
It is the story of Joe the Farmer who never, never, never gave up!
Fires, hailstorms--
the worse is unconscious understanding on the part of the City.
Small family farmers suffer from rising water costs, and all kinds
of red tape.
They are our hope, our real homeland security.
Joe is growing lettuce especially for "Organic Celebration at the HIlton!"
more another time.
They are fourth generation farmers, and Joe Sr. questions
advising the next generation to farm.
IT is a very difficult life, but when you and I shop at the FM
it makes all the difference in the world.
In being a Friend of the Farm, Joe the Farmer
can say, "Happiness is Organic!"
It matters where we purchase, and who we support.
The Hilton is on the verge of giving Chef Hermann
an ongoing budget to buy from the Local organic farmers.
You can drop Rayna Fears a line
at rayna_fears@hilton.com
and let her know you appreciate
"Organic Celebration at the Hilton!"
three days of organic and biodynamic food
coming into the HIlton San Diego Resort!
She will forward the emails...to the appropriate people.
I will check on the place the is best to send them.
