what you are grateful for helps keep things
in perspective. Gratitude carries you
through the tough times, and gives you
the strength to surpass the stress of
challenges.
Reflect on your family, your friends or the
place where you live, and the satisfaction
they bring you. Think about your good
health and your mental or physical talents.
Consider the pleasure you received from a
phone call with a friend or a laugh you
shared with your children.
Look back on small and large moments-
the affection of a pet, your success in the garden
or a deep and fulfilling relationship.
These are all the things that nourish gratitude.
And gratitude makes life worth living.
A sense of humor is recognized as one of the key
attributes that builds personal resiliency. It is
instrumental in helping us cope with change and other
challenges. It's not really surprising. We all know how
much better we feel after a good laugh!. It releases
tension, puts things back in perspective, and generally
helps us take a more positive attitude.
Seek ways to bring out your sense of humor. Rent
comedies, read the comics, watch children at play, and
spend some time with friends who see the funny side of life.
Laughter is wonderfully contagious. Why not spread
some yourself.
You probably can quickly come up with a list of the things you dislike,
with things that annoy you, even with things you hate. But set those
aside and challenge yourself to think of the things you love. What do you
love about this day, about your friends and family, about your work,
your life, your faith, your home, your possibilities? What makes your
heart melt, what brings a smile to your face, what lifts your spirit high
above the clouds? Think for a moment about all the good things you have going for you. Sure you have your share of problems, yet your life is also filled with
many wonderful blessings. The more you value and appreciate those good
things, the more they will grow. The more thought and attention you give
to them, the more valuable they will become.
Think of what you love, and think of how very fortunate you are to have
it all. Think of what you love, and see what a tremendous positive
difference it can make to all aspects of your life.
This day can be better than any you've ever experienced when you fill
its moments with what you love.
