There are many clues that we are running a victim painbody loop. Here are some.
1. You find yourself continually telling freinds and strangers how bad you have it. The "poor me" syndrome is a negative pattern that the pain body uses to feed the addiction and thus maintain the loop.
2. Your language is full of victimhood clues such as...I can't do this or that because of *blank* or Things are out of my contol, I'm unlucky because... etc.
(If you journal, blog or even post, check back at some of your words and see if your language contains these kinds of clues)
3. You focus on the things you can't do instead of forging ahead with the things that you can do.
4. Your stuck in the same negative pattern that you have been for years. The same theme repeats over and over again seemingly out of your control.
5. You attract situations where you feel out of control or feel "bullied."
6. You blame others (people or 'the devil" or "god") for problems you are experiencing.
7. The world seems like a harsh place out of your control.
8. You feel unlucky. Nothing good ever happens to you.
9. Your stuck in a rut. (moss tends to grow on your north side..lol)
10. You lie to your self telling yourself things will get better when you really feel deep down that they won't. ( a good clue that your lying to yourself is if you just hope things will get better but don't take significant and sustained action to bring change about). Wishful thinking is not the same as focused and planned action.
11. You consciously or unconsciously draw people into enabling your victimhood pattern. For enablers getting drawn into this classic exchange, it is better to teach someone how to grow their own food, so to speak, rather than give them hand outs that they become dependent on. It is better to emphasize personal power to the person rather than repeatedly do things for them (physically, emotionally, monetarily , etc.). Sometimes drastic measures like withdrawing for a while may even be necessary. It is critical that people in a victim consciousness loop get back in the driver's seat and take full responsibility for their situation. After all they created it and must learn how to uncreate it.
12. People and situations conspire against you creating a fantastic "negative" story.
