3-D View
When I saw a photo with the five terra cotta figurines in it, I knew I had to make an art piece out of them; they remind me of my childhood. I grew up in what was then called a "traditional family"--working father, stay-at-home mother (euphemistically called "home engineer"), and three kids. My dad always came home from work around 5 P.M. hot, grumpy, and hungry. My dad's ill-humor was understandable--having worked a long day, much of it standing on his feet, he then had to make it home during rush hour traffic, with no air conditioning, on blistering hot summer days. Invariably, upon hearing Dad's car pull up in the driveway, one of the three of us kids would enthusiastically call out "Dad's home!" and we'd rush to the door to let him in. The "father" in this art piece seems to have had an even more difficult journey, having just arrived home after a slow slog on his mount through the blistering desert of Saharan Mali.##
"Eco Art by mayah" utilizes recycled and earth-friendlier materials whenever possible.
