Generally, it falls into the heading of group mentality:
EX. Researchers at Leeds University performed a group experiment where volunteers were told to randomly walk around a large hall without talking to each other. A select few were then given more detailed instructions on where to walk. The scientists discovered that people end up blindly following one or two instructed people who appear to know where they’re going. The results of this experiments showed that it only takes 5% of confident looking and instructed people to influence the direction of the 95% of people in the crowd and the 200 volunteers did this without even realizing it!
Also known as:
Herd mentality, mob mentality and pack mentality, also lesser known as gang mentality, describes how people can be influenced by their peers to adopt certain behaviors on a largely emotional, rather than rational, basis.
This happens In groups of undisciplined children, loose unfamiliar people out in public places and even some classes of animals. They tend to assume or subconsciously choose a leader to follow! The how and why has much to do with the background and exposure of the group. Not all groups will follow this pattern.
It has much to do with the makeup and knowledge of the group plus circumstances. Certain ones will follow an almost predetermined path of action - while others will not be driven to follow under these circumstances!
Therefore you must consider how much of a leader or follower you are! To successfully live an independent, structured and developing life you must be or become leadership traits and actions. Otherwise, you will always just be a follower! Leadership is a choice, not an inhered trait!
Leaders seek the truth and should not be self-centered and close-minded! Learn to see beyond your immediate circumstances it takes real thought and determine to achieve positive results! Not everyone can or will be a natural born leader!
** {Only about 5% are natural born leaders!}
Therefore strive to find your common point in life so that you can function as God directed for your existence! This requires that you continually seek the Kingdom of God in your life, then find and follow the Righteousness of Christ to lead you!
Not everyone will find or even use this method of intelligence gathering and mentality!
