God allowed some things that He hated because of the hardness (rebellion) of people's hearts. This was also true of polygamy and slavery.
Jesus came to remove our stony heart and give us a heart of flesh so that we could walk-in God's best for us.
Don't be mired in the big dispute of the day between liberal and conservative views on divorce, homosexuality, and all the sexual sins of the world. This was a very emotional issue then, just as it is today, and the Jewish Religious leaders thought they had Jesus in a "no win" situation in this confrontation!
Mark 10:2 "And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him."
What most people today who are mired in the social - economic system of today; do not realize is that there is a way out of the sin complex!
First, it takes using your God-given intelligence to seek the Truth!
Then it takes your discernment and decision to want to change our future!
This is much like a 400 lb person who thinks they are stuck in their fat body.
Which is not true or really healthy for them - it takes discernment and determination to change. Things never change unless you decide to do something different! This is the history of humans, living in doubt and ignorance!
{there are literally hundreds of sinful limiting actions in people's lives today!}
Once you come to realize that there is and has been a better way all along, why stay there?
Most people are not living God's best for them because they are mired in the negative thoughts and things of life. Once you come to realize there is a better way, all that is needed is for you to decide to change. [your choice]
Hypothetical example:
if you were stuck in some dark cold forbidding place, hungry and sick; yet know there was a free train just down the block which could carry you into a warm sunny place, with more food that you could ever eat - why would you keep staying there?
This is where many people are - by not living in God's best for them!
Decide to change your life for the better. Pray for God's direction in your life!

Accept the Grace and Mercy of God and get over it.
If you are in such a position;
why are you stuck there?
Seek and then make a dedicated decision to change for the better - then start on your new life in the Best of what God has for you!
