Leslie Goldman with Michael Potter at the Natural Product Expo West 2013
My passion and commitment to influence the next generations of Youth has been fulfilled and healed through my relationship with Eden Foods and specifically Michael Potter, the Founder, and current Marketing Director,
Erica Mercer.
On numbers of occasions--including Spring 2013--I have requested Eden Products to bring into the classroom, and Erica and Michael have been right there for me.
THE ORGANIC PANTRY AT HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL
In Spring 2013, I had two occasions to bring Eden Foods into the classroom. My niece Eva Becker is an outstanding Science teacher at Hamilton High School. Over the last number of years, I have made guest appearances in her classrooms.
In my first first visit years ago, Eva introduced me as Uncle Leslie. Within a few hours, I was being called Uncle Leslie by numbers of the kids, and this has caught on.
Generally I come into the classroom right after the National Product Expo West in March. This show signals for me the beginning of my season. Eden Foods are among my favorite foods to give to the teens.
IN SPRING 2013 EVA PRODUCED A BIOZONE SCIENCE FAIR FOR THE SCHOOL
In Spring 2013, Eva, with the help of her students, produced a spectacular event called BioZone 2013. I made requests of food from both Eden Foods and some of my other favorite food companies.
I was late in placing my order with Erica, and had to leave before the box arrived for my trip to LA. I made up for this a few later, making a special trip up to Los Angeles from San Diego to initiate another of my ideas, The Enchanted Garden Pantry.
ENCHANTED GARDEN PANTRY
My announced goal at the recent National Heirloom Expo, is to inspire 1 million more youth to garden. My work is called Plant Your Dream. Through my own passion for food, I have effectively been able to communicate to the teens that their food choices matter.
Food is the instrument through which dreams are fulfilled, and the quality of food we choice can help or hinder the fulfillment of our dreams.
Each time I come into the classroom, Eva assigns the kids to do feedback the next day. The feedback shows that the youth get my message.
HERE IS ONE FEEDBACK
EDEN FOOD QUALITY
When I think of quality of care in food production, Eden Foods is right there the companies who set a standard of excellence and go the extra mile.
This is epitomized by Co-founder of Eden Foods, Michael Potter, who was one of the first companies who established the standard for the BPA Free Can. BPA is a chemical substance that does not belong in our food. The info about it are becoming more and more well known. Michael would not cut corners when he began to produce food in cans. Eden Foods are among the only canned products I will eat. More and more, other companies are now choosing to go with the BPA free can, but Michael Potter was among the first.

QUOTE FROM MICHAEL POTTER OF EDEN FOODS
IS ON THIS POST
“Hiding the truth about our food is pervasive, unethical, and only done for money,” says Michael Potter, CEO of Eden Foods, an organic food manufacturer that financially contributed to support Proposition 37. “Let this [Prop. 37] be the beginning of an end to it.”
According to Cornucopia, and California state records, numerous more modest companies, such as Nature’s Path, Dr. Bronner’s, Nutiva, Eden Foods, Organic Valley and Lundberg Family Farm are “walking their talk,” having collectively contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to the campaign in favor of Proposition 37 and food transparency. But the California Secretary of State’s records fail to show one red cent from the missing organic industry giants.
