Here is a bit of a background I have related to fasting - The maximum duration for I have water fasted in the past is one day I now want to take it further and do one for 15 - 28 days. I have done a 40 day master cleanse in the past and have never felt better. From what I read the water cleanse will be more beneficial.... a lot more beneficial. I plan to start the fast NOW.
Here are reasons why I want to fast:
- Want to get into the state of mental clarity.
- Want to do some thinking and planning about my relationship with food, where my life is going, etc. Need a break from everything to figure stuff out.
- Want to get rid of chronic sinus infections - and a related ear popping issue, allergies, candida, heal the aches on the soles of my foot, knee and back. Want to heal prior injuries on my head, arm and wrist. Also I recently got a toe infection that does not go away no matter what I try. Hope that heals too.
- Need the chronic fatigue to go away. Water fasting is to kick start it and healthier diet is the plan for maintaining an optimal level of vitality.
- Hopefully the hair fall problem will stop. I have heard fasting can accelerate hair loss but then new hair regrows after that.
- Fasting makes me feel like a better version of myself, where I can think clearly, hear better, smell better, etc. I want to make that feeling permanent by incorporating intermittent water fasts for a day and a half per week.
- Loosing weight will be awesome too.
- Breaking my cigarette addiction.
I am sure that I will add things to this list as and when I remember. Also I am sure that the benefit of a water fast will surpass all these things.
Measurements:
I am a 32 year old guy. Weight 186.4 Kgs, Height: 5.8" Waist 44", Chest 43", Thighs 24.5", Neck: 16, Bicep flex: 12.5", Forearm flex 11"..... A lot of this is fat. Need it to go.
So what will make me stick to the fast.
- Reading, posting, watching fasting videos.
- Taking it one day at a time.
- Sticking with the plan until the hunger goes away.
- Support.
Biggest risks to the fast are food temptation and headaches. Other risk is busy office schedule.
Here it starts wish me luck.
UPDATES:
- Morning - Woke up and went back to sleep multiple times as I really wanted to ignore the thoughts of breakfast that I usually wake up with. Makes me realize how much I think of food.
- 1:00 PM - There are so many thoughts of oh I should do this tomorrow and maybe start fresh in the evening after having something I really like for lunch. Its a holiday today so I have no work to distract me an so my mind is giving me a hard time. Writing here is helpful.
- 1:00 PM - Have had intense thoughts about smoking. Still staying strong and avoiding the stuff. Smoking is not an option anymore - I have to keep reminding myself.
- 5:00 PM - all is well till now Have not eaten or smoked. Occasionally I get a big craving to smoke. Planning to take a nap before my mind starts messing with me again.
- 9:30 PM - Went to meet a friend at a coffee shop. Bad idea... I was tempted by everything. Anyway, I just had water there but it was out of control there for a min. Now I am back home and the smell of food is tempting. I am actually going to distract myself with work on a holiday, watch a movie and then go to bed.
- Thank God there was no headache today.
- My right ear feels strange... like it feels in a plane while landing... its because of my sinus infection.
