DR DAPHNE MILLER MD
Dr. Miller founded her Integrative medical practice in 2000 in order to focus on the whole person and to incorporate a blend of conventional and alternative healing approaches. She believes that her most valuable work as a physician occurs when she helps patients to discover their innate power to optimize their health. Dr. Miller is also an Associate Professor at the University of California San Francisco where she teaches nutrition and integrative medicine.
A graduate of Brown University and Harvard Medical School, she did her medical residency at the University of California, San Francisco where she also completed a two-year NIH-funded research fellowship. Her formal nutrition training includes a two-year Bravewell Scholarship at Andrew Weil’s Program in Integrative Medicine which is based at the University of Arizona. She is a long-time student of Iyengar yoga and often incorporates yoga into her therapeutic treatment plans.
In addition to her clinical work, Daphne Miller studies, teaches and writes about the healing effects of traditional foods and the natural environment. Her latest book, The Jungle Effect (Harper Collins 2008), is a nutrition adventure that brings her readers on an odyssey to discover the healthiest diets and recipes from around the globe. She is also a frequent contributor to the “Trained Eye” health column in the health section of the Washington Post. She also regularly consults with the public land agencies in an effort to create closer linkages between health care institutions and the natural environment.
Dr. Miller is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians as well as several other local and national professional organizations and she maintains active privileges at at California Pacific Medical Center. She has been elected by her peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America since 2005.
