e3 SDSU Visit December 5, 2012
Yesterday was the last meeting of the season for the e3's at SDSU. I wanted to check in on this powerful group that has influenced environment and sustainability progress at San Diego State University.
I have been watching their progress for more than five years.
In that time, they have instigated a Farmers' Market on campus and bike lanes. The current project goes back to a Seed Dream I was planting when I first made contact with them--inspiring the elimination of plastic bottles on campus.
My focus then was the Eco-Usable filter bottle. The cost factor made it out of the range of most, but the health benefits were clear. THe Eco-Usable bottle had a BPA free lining, and a filtering system that allowed for tap water to be processed.
The Eco-Useable was spearheaded by Joey Mendelsohn, a local So Cal celebity called Eco Joe. I would like to look Joey Mendelsohn up as a consultant with the e3's. They are making progress with this plastic bottle issue on campus.
Eco-Usables filter bottle is now being sold by another company. Eco Joe would be an outstanding consultant for the state of the industry of high quality BPA free stainless steel bottles.
PLANTING SEEDS FOR THE FUTURE
I also wanted to plant seeds for the e3's to come over and do some gardening here. I want to create our front yard and some other areas as a showplace for Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds and a place where students and others can witness the growth of their own Seed Dreams growing with KAMUT ® Ancient Khorasan Wheat.
I will be following up on these projects.
