"Right To Record The Activities Of Police Officers" Glik v. Cunniffe, 655 F.3d 78 (1st Cir. 2011) was a case at the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit that held that a private citizen has the right to videotape public officials in a public place, and that the arrest of the citizen for a wiretapping violation violated the citizen's First and Fourth Amendment rights. All activities of police officers (as well as all other public officials) "on public business" need to be recorded. That might require having a companion with you in the event that you are the one who's Rights are being infringed upon. In fact having two witnesses with you would be ideal!
