The message to the FDA has now gone out from 1,000,000. One of these 1,000,000 voices is Gary Hirshberg. I spent the morning writing about the inspired and inspiring former CE-YO of Stonyfield Farm who is hot on trail to give us a post GMO work. The first step is Label it! Spread around please.

A FORMER YOGURT CE-YO I LIKE
I have bought Stonyfield Farm yogurt for friends and family because I like the man who has inspired this company to do good things in the world.
At the Natural Product Expo West #expowest, I see Gary Hirshberg each year. I have experienced his voice, passion, and generosity over the years. I have a good time with the Stonyfield Yogurt family each year, and believe that each and every product doing good deserves a market share in our future that I personally know will be organically grown.
In recent months, Gary has stepped down from the CE-YO position at Stonyfield to step up the crucial role he is playing in inspiring the his work to label Genetically engineered foods.
As Max Goldberg says, "The movement needs a very visible, high profile leader who has strong relationships with all of the organic food CEOs and our leaders in Washington, D.C., including President Obama. No one fits this role better than Gary Hirshberg."

THe plant in the pot is organic alfalfa. Last year, a little organic alfalfa plant made the rounds at #expowest 2011. This year,the organic alfalfa crop is much bigger. On March 27, 2012, The FDA got a message that 1,000,000 voices had come together to make the will of the nation known. This is a trend: the nations and their people agree they have the Right to Know what is in their foods.
The recent Mellman Survey, now confirms the nation's will and asks the FDA to Label it! I see no less than 2 Million voices joining this campaign. I want to encourage you to sign on here:
The Ingredients in question are called GMOs. Since the beginning of time, great men like Lurther Burbank, who was a Genetiic Engineer of sorts back in active in 1907 wrote a book then called "The Training of the Human Plant,"
This book was dedicated to the 16 million public school children and countless others under the same sky in different nations. Burbank saw that the Irish were in famine. The Irish had been banking on the genes in one potatio being enough for them to survive, when nature had made thousands of different kinds of poatoes to keep the gene pool vital and diverse. The Irish were breaking nature's laws when they banked all their nation's hopes and dreams on only one kind of potato. Nature always prevails. Bugs started to say yummy to that one potato, and this caused more than 1 million people to die and many to leave home.
What did Lurther Burbank do? He knew that there other kinds of potatoes with different gene combinations. He knew that this diversity would not be attacked by nature's undertakers--the bug life who serve to keep all life moving from dust to food and back to dust.
With an Angel standing on his shoulder, Lurther Burbank, asked nature for her help. She helped him develop what became known as the Idaho potato and other kinds of potatoes. When this were sent to Ireland, this helped the nation overcome its famine.
When people mess with genes today nature rises up to strike down an imbalanced system. Nature smells something wrong.
That is what is happening today. Through a different kind of gene invasion, about one million miles from what Lurther Burbank did, we are now creating superbugs and superweeds. This is the result of modern Genetic engineering created by science out of sync with the classical breeding tools, and prophet motives of people like Luther Burbank.

When we take extreme time to understand nature through loving cows and spending time in the pasture, we have have the beat of nature on our side.
That brings up to me the story of Gary Hirshberg, one of the 1,000,000 voices. Gary has played a very important role in his company Stonyfield Farms as its former "Ce-yo," but Gary saw the writing on the wall: If the people of the United States did not send their voices to the FDA--the Food and Drug Administration--and tell them that we each wanted to know the ingredients we were eating--we had a problem.
The Issue of Labeling is Simple
The issue of Labeling is simple. Everyone can choose what they want to eat. Each person has a right to know if GMOs are in the food they are buying.
A recent poll, commissioned by the 500 Label it partners hired lead Pollster Mellman to test the feelings of the US. The results are now in. The Mellman Survey shows that more than 93 percent of the people feel that GMOs should be labeled. Many of these people have never ever heard of GMO's or know that bugs like to eat GMOs.
Gary Hirshberg, a man who prefers to eat organically grown food, food more in sync with the way Luther Burbank modified foods, is just one of those voices, that is saying Label it!

1) In one respect, this is a huge surprise because Gary has been running one of the leading brands in the organic space for nearly three decades. When you think about the organic food leaders in this country, you immediately think about Gary Hirshberg.
Yet on the other hand, it isn’t that much of a surprise. He’s done everything that he can do there and was probably ready for different challenges in his life.

March 20, 2012 I am calling for 1.7 million signatures for the ballot initiative

This is a ten week campaign to get on the California Ballot with an initiative. Pamm Larry told me we had 500,000 signatures as of March 27, 2012. I big issue for me is how many of those will qualify? Many people do not know what it means to be legally registered to vote. That means getting a ballot where you live. Every time you move, you need to reregister. I am calling for 1.7 million signatures to set the tone of the victory in November in California. We need 850,00-800,000 Signatures that pass inspection and are approved. This is the focus. This is the need. How will you help? The campaign begins February 15, once the Attorney General approves the wording that will go on the ballot.
