I've never owned a TV and I am so very grateful for that! It has spared me from forty years of sick programming (and subconscious conditioning that is documented in this movie: Freedom - linked above). There are a number of cases that have been made to enlighten people about the subconscious programing that happens with TV viewing.
Imagine that there are three steps to freedom/enlightenment and the first is simply: stop watching TV. Do it for a week or two and see how you feel.
