It needs to be a Park.
I am talking about the land
that is now called
the Exotica Rare Fruit Nursery in Vista California.
The potential destruction of this land
is the equivalent of the loss
of a national treasure.
Locally, it is the equivalent of the loss
of the South Central Farm
in L.A. An award winning movie was made of that.
Raj Patel wrote a book called
"The Value of Nothing."
Take a look at the trailer.
This land has a price tag,
around $345,000.
The Value is priceless.
We are talking about a heritage here,
something the people of our county can not
afford to lose when they ultimately come back to their senses.
It would be no big deal for the government to pick this up.
They need to.
This does not need to be in private hands.
The current caretaker, the man who
created this priceless humanitarian treasure,
is not a business man.
That is the issue. Steven Spangler is a
skilled nurseryman. He knows the trees.
The City of Vista, or a Regional Conservation
organization, needs to step in.
The gate on three acres is scheduled to
be locked on Sunday eve if 345K is not given,
The current owner came in around eight years ago
to help Spangler, but Spangler has not been
able to keep up with the rent. Spangler went
to court earlier this year and promised to pay
$2600.00 rent per month, and then a balloon
payment of $345 K this August 1. He has
made the $2600.00 rent each month, barely.
The owner wants to sell off the land.
Previously, a buyer want to buy the land
where many in the ground twenty year old trees
are growing, and turn into an area for storage sheds.

RECENT LIST OF PLANTS ON PROPERTY
THAT ARE FOR SALE
My suggestion is that they be
given on consignment, taken out
where possible, and payments made to Spangler.
The place need a community response
on Friday to get it in the media.

HOW DID I GET IN THIS MESS?
I see the saving of the Exotica Rare Fruit Nursery
as a big issue. I gave one solid month in December
and realized I was sacrificing too many of my priorities
to save this land.
I backed off.
I realized quickly that the price of the trees,
the price Steven Spangler was selling them for,
was not a price that could save the nursery.
My own life is a mess.
I have been giving away my life to many causes
that needed help.
Now I have to take care of myself
if I am to get grounded and go on.
