I will not have another cat spayed
how spaying killed my healthy cat
Date: 6/6/2010 11:13:06 AM ( 14 y ) ... viewed 2026 times Roxy was a healthy one year old cat, so vibrant and full of life. We only had her a few weeks, she was a stray and came upon our property.
We adopted her, a few weeks later we noticed her nipple growing. So we took her back to the alpine clinic in missoula, Montana.
We had taken her there for her shots when we adopted her.
The Vet told us that Roxy was not pregnant and he could do a spay. When we picked her up the next morning . We were told she was pregnant and allegedly had a miscarriage. So they removed the kittens and did the spay.
At 11am we picked her up and roxy came home. She was okay at first. then she was meowing with pain . We called the vet and there was a message and no way to leave vm. We then took her to office and left a note,
Roxy calmed down until later in the evening when sh meowed and then went blank. I actually gave her cpr and got her . to emergency vet "pruyn". they did what they could but it was too late . Roxy died.
This on our wedding anniversary and two weeks after our other cat had to get a lef amputated. Pruyn did surgery on Samoa, two actually and they have done a good job. But, there is no exuse for a vet to lose a cat when it is spayed.
