Oompa Loompa (Raw) Chocolate Storytime!
True or False: Raw chocolate is good for you!
Date: 4/3/2010 12:44:12 AM ( 14 y ) ... viewed 48152 times Wow. Can you think of anything much more fun to think about than Oompa Loompas and Sacred Chocolate?!
For the uninitiated or unaware, Oompa Loompas were a peoples in the book CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY who just looooooved chocolate! However they were living and working in a place and for people that did not pay them enough to even buy the the chocolate they so dearly loved -- UNTIL Willie Wonka came around and hired them for his chocolate factory. Oh boy, the Oompa Loompas were REALLY happy then, because Willie Wonka even paid them in cacao beans, woo-woo!!
"Well that's all very fine and good," you might say, "but there is no such thing as Oompa Loompas working in chocolate factories. It's all just a childish fantasy and nothing for a mature adult to even think about."
Ah! but yes, there ARE real (I mean REAL) Oompa Loompas working in the Big Avocado's Sacred Chocolate factory even as we speak!! In fact, I had a conversation with one of them myself today -- and of course much of our conversation WAS about -- you know: Chocolate!!! (smile)
I was confessing to the Oompa Loompa (who is also a member of TheBestDayEver.com website) about my fantasies of wanting to fall into a big vat of chocolate in a chocolate factory back when that first Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie came out -- and she totally understand and empathized and herself, right there in the Sacred Chocolate factory, also finds those "rivers of chocolate" mighty tempting for a plunge. (But of course she doesn't do that. My guess is that they keep her happy with enough cacao beans to allay such indiscretions donchano!!)
She ALSO told me something REALLY exciting: that Sacred Chocolate not only has those AWESOME Easter Bunnies (made in antique molds from maybe as long as 100 years ago!) for $100 (they are hollow but LARGE)! One of these VERY SAME Sacred Chocolate Raw Cacao Easter Bunnies was auctioned off at the recent Longevity Conference for $450 to benefit Avocado's great nonprofit Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (check 'em out at http://www.ftpf.org)
but ALSO -- and this is brand NEW! -- they are coming out with Sacred Chocolate Truffles...!!!
I love the name truffles, partly because it also reminds me of the truffles that are such a rare delicacy that people take pigs out into the woods to sniff them out! Chocolate truffles to me are a rare delicacy too! All soft and chocolate and warm and melty in the middle....Mmmmmm!!!! Check 'em out at: www.SacredChocolate.com -- if they are there yet. Not sure if they are there yet! I just finished talking with the Oompa Loompa donchano, and I need time to figure these things out...!!! But if they are not there yet they will be there soon! Better to know sooner than later – kind of like how it is great to first in line...!!! (smile)
And Raw Chocolate is good for you. Who knew?! I remember when I first went raw back in the early '90s I totally gave up chocolate. I had NO IDEA that one day I would get to eat it again!!! Now I get to eat it as a SUPERFOOD -- Whoa!! One of the highest natural sources of magnesium one can possibly find -- if not THE highest -- and raw cacao (chocolate) has the highest amount of antioxidants of any food in the world! Also high in iron, chromium, it is an excellent source of copper, vitamin C (but only when raw), omega-6 fatty acids (in cooked chocolate these are rancid), phenylethylamine (PEA) (which are killed by roasting), anandamide (an endorphin the human body produces after exercise) -- and MORE...! (See the book SUPERFOODS by David Wolfe for the full skinny on raw chocolate – and his and Shazzie's book NAKED CHOCOLATE!)
Suddenly chocolate seems like quite a RESPECTABLE and REASONABLE thing to eat. Those Ooompa Loompas knew something we didn't know!! Oh yes, there are always the naysayers? Don't you just love the naysayers?! Sometimes they help us to realize we are onto something REALLY good...! Haha! I love that quote by David "Avocado" Wolfe, "Cacao seems to cause totally irrational behavior in the people who don't eat it."
There is something expansive about raw cacao. It expands and opens up the Heart. And that, to me, is why it is Sacred. I remember hearing long ago about how chocolate puts something in the body that the body feels when in love. I think it must be that same thing, but more – now that we finally get to eat it uncooked and unprocessed and without being mixed by corn syrup or white sugar or pasteurized steroidized milk and whatever else is done to the cooked chocolates of the world!
Chocolate seems to have always been, in our Western culture anyhow, a gift of love and a gift of lovers. How very fortunate we are that it is a food of health and longevity!! Of course we want to go easy on it. Not too much – especially of sweetened chocolate. Sweetened is for treats and for small amounts! It is something to be enjoyed and treasured and eaten with Gratitude and Thanks, with Joy and Playfulness, with the young and young at heart – and to help the more closed and jaded hearts to open up again.
What a great gift...!
