God Bless the Wild Weeds, Wild Men and Wild Women!
This is something I wrote sometime last year. Somehow it seems like a good message for Valentine's Day. (smile)
Date: 2/14/2010 4:43:04 PM ( 14 y ) ... viewed 1812 times We were born into a bleak time on Earth.
The Bomb had already detonated over Hiroshima, over Nagasaki, and the same forces that brought that to be became more and more in power over this Earth. Or if you are older, you were born during or before World War II, which was grim enough of itself.
I have always loved the miracle, the symbology, the essence of meaning of, the reality of plants we will see that growth through the cracks in the sidewalks and cement parking lots.
Yesterday I was laying out by the pool to get some vitamin D from the Sun. On a lesser level than the Bomb, I have a great disdain for things like swimming pools (filled with fluoride and chlorine poison, surround ed by law with wire fences, and surrounded within the wire fences by cement and metal outdoor furniture). We learn to live among all of this Death Culture accoutrement. A necessary but ultimately temporary adaptation.
I look on the bright side: Here is a place I can lay outdoors and I will not be ticketed for loitering if I just lay out here. I am allowed to lay out here (especially since I live here), and the Sun still shines, and I am grateful to live in a place where the Sun shines as warmly as it does as often as it does, and overall my neighbors in this apartment complex are friendly and non-aggressive.
I looked down and I saw it: a wild edible weed was growing up through the concrete (surrounded by 6 to 30 feet of solid concrete all around it, depending on from which side you are looking). I bent down and I gratefully pulled up a couple of leaves to partake of this "weed," to make it a part of me by putting it through my mouth into my body, with a prayer that I too can live as this beautiful weed amongst the Death Culture where Life Culture is springing through and must spring.
The first edible weed I ever learned about was the dandelion (so healing and nutritious and I love it so much). And this week I learned about henbit, another edible weed that is a very pleasant taste.
God Bless all the Wild Wo/Men in this world.
Thanks for reading, and here's wishing you the Best Valentine's Day EVER...!!!
