It can be tough to stick with your exercise program when winter hits. Winter can frustrate the most motivated exercisers. And if you're not so motivated, it's all too easy to pack your workout gear away with your summer clothes.
The key to staying motivated during the winter is first, to make it as easy as possible to do your workouts and, second, to recognize when you're starting to get bored with your workouts and make a change before you really lose interest. The following suggestions will give you some ideas for making winter exercise more comfortable and more interesting:
- Walk indoors: Walking is a good way to stay fit and healthy. However, in order to avoid cold weather of winter, you can simply replace your outdoor sessions by walking indoors, probably in the living area of your room. Walking indoors makes you feel safe and provides a dry, warm temperature to do it.
- Climb stairs: Another good winter workout is to climb the stairs rather than using elevators. Be it your house or office building or even a shopping mall, climbing the stairs few times a day is a great work out.
- Yoga: A great way to unite body, spirit and mind. Join a yoga class or take advantage of services which are offered free to the public.
- Get involved in household activities: Doing household activities also counts as a winter workout for staying fit and healthy during winter. Sweep the floor, vacuum the house, or decorate the home and make it fun.
