TO THE CONSCIOUS LIFE COMMUNITY
Welcome to the 2010 Conscious Life Expo. As this new decade begins, we reaffirm our common commitment to radical personal and planetary transformation. We are all working arduously to bring into form this next stage in human evolution. We find ourselves in the middle of this miraculous explosion of knowledge, creativity, compassion…and possibility. Kona Coffee plants, Dwarf Banana Trees, and pineapples growing
in pots, three indoor plants that have good-size inventories
at the Exotica Rare Fruit Nursery, are center stage
in plans to increase business for the Vista-based nursery.
The nursery, unable to pay rent on three of five
of its acres since June 2008, reached resolve November 19
in the VIsta Court house, when Steven Spangler, founder,
agreed to pay $2600.00 per month rent between now
and August 1 and a balloon payment due August 1 of $130,000
for back payments and fees. The consequences of defaulting on
a single month's rent would be a lockout from the three acres.
Trees in the ground, some growing for more
than 20 years, would become the property of the current
owner. The value of the plants on the
three acres are more than 1 million. Spangler also has the option
to purchase the three acres for $345,000. Spangler also
has rent due on the other two acres and operating expenses.

said Spangler.

Installation for the PACIFIC SYMPOSIUM at the CATAMARAn
RESORT HOTEL. Leslie has created Sacred Space for that
event for more than 12 years.
LESLIE (L) WHOLE LIFE EXPO CLOSING CEREMONY,

Leslie Goldman, Left, founded the Closing Ceremonies at
the WHOLE LIFE EXPO LA at the height of the shows popularity
in the 80's. His favorite ceremonies were held outdoors,
and interplayed with natural elements including birds
sounding on cue, rainbows, and water.
This photo, from the only Whole Life Expo held in
San Diego, was foreshadowed by weather reports for rain.
Leslie held the space outside during the hours of the show.
When he entered to call in the particpants, a quick rain fell,
and then rainbows. When the group came back to ceremony
area, an aloe vera inadvertently placed over a drain,
created a makeshift wading pool. This became
the centerpiece for sacred work.
The presence of the Closing Ceremonies at the WLE in the 80's
was an afterthought in the mind of most program directors.
Leslie would have to do a lot of convincing to include the
closing ceremony. The closing was a give away,
and did not create direct income, although it left
a lasting impression on those who attended and came back again
in the future with a feeling of love in their hearts.
One Closing at the Hilton LAX was marked by an earthquake
that morning. The Closing was not a part of the show,
but was added on the final day. More than 200 attended
the spontaneious happening that took place in a part of the building
still under construction.
The early shows had M.C.'s introducing speakers. BARBARA
DeANGELIS, STEPHEN LONGFELLOW FISKE and LESLIE
were among the early M.C.'s in the early shows. The
early expos had lots of free entertainment often orchestrated
by Fiske. Some of the most popular of musicians gave freely
at the shows, as did many of the teachers. The later
successes were built on an early day spirit of good will
and volunteerism.
Leslie's favorite program director in the early days
was SHIRIN STRAUSS. The early shows were developed by
ALLEN GOLDMAN, and then PAUL ANDREWS.
Leslie would give away free baby herb
plants that in years to come shifted the landscape throughout
So Cal. Andrews often remarked that the plant that grew
at his home for many years, one that he took home
from an early show, reminded him of the contribution
Leslie brought.
Leslie taught at many of the Whole LIfe Expos,
In the late early 80's, his signature was to create
ENCHANTED GARDEN INSTALLATIONS, Sacred Spaces
filled with plants and nature elements. The first
of these took place at the MANDALA CONFERENCES
in San Diego in the ealry 80's. ROBERT MULLER,
then undersecretary general of the U.N. was so moved
by one of this installations that he gave Leslie A U.N.
Peace Medal for the work he would do in his life.
Some of the most elaborate installations took place at the I
NTERNATIONAL FENG SHUI CONFERENCES in the 90's.
The 2001 installation, at the Disney Hilton Orlando, Florida,
was created by Disney employees. Leslie was later invited to Epcot
center where he met with those from the horticulture
department. At the 2001 show, JAMES MOSER, was so moved
by the impact of the installation that he consented to Leslie
being the opening speaker for the closing. He preceded
DENISE LYNN.
At the 2005 International Feng Shui Conference in San Diego,
Leslie did both the opening and closing ceremonies, that
helped redefine Feng Shui and recreate a modern day
alignment with its bright green future. Unknown to
the conference goers, at the same time the Opening
was being held, Hilton Hotel officials signed
a contract with the State of California to join their
Green Lodging Program, a state initiative.
In 2009, The ULTIMATE GARDENER, a book he inspired,
was released by HCI, the publishers of the CHICKEN SOUP
for the SOUL Series. CHARLIE NARDOZZI, the author,
was a consulting to MICHELLE OBAMA on the White house
garden.
The author of more than ten books. One of his
most popular creations are WORDS THAT MEN
NEED TO KNOW and WOMEN WANT TO HEAR,
The Seven Love Cures. The popular poems,
that appear on laminated plaques and in a booklet,
have saved many relationships and sparked
many others.
At the close of 2009, Lesie was invited to create
a the HEALING GARDEN at SCRIPPS, a new project
that he will kick off in 2010 for the
SCRIPPS CENTER FOR INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE
in La Jolla. The center has a labyrinth vegetarian
cooking school and pharmacy that includes
homeopathy and flower essences.
Leslie hearted warmed to the CONSCIOUS LIFE EXPO
at the NATURAL PRODUCT EXPO WEST 2009 show.
He and program director ELIZABETH WINTER spent
some time together.

but finding homes for 1000's of EXOTICA RARE FRUIT
TREES and Plants from around the world, appear
to be calling him present for the 2010 show
that will be held in Los Angeles around Valentine's
Day.
