This PLANT YOUR DREAM BLOG
was inspired by recent events of the last few days.
They go back farther to a vision to help the
EXOTICA RARE FRUIT NURSERY in VISTA, CA
where they have thousands of rare fruit trees
and plants from around the world.
The vision also stems from a deep Seed Dream
I feel inside myself to return to my roots, not so much
going to a distant land, but perhaps, having love
from a distant land, coming to live with me here
at the ENCHANTED GARDEN INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY
in San Diego.
What I write about here is all in God's Hands.
I only see pieces of what I am saying.
Perhaps God is asking me to help a distant tribe
of Jewish Uganda People who have been praying
or maybe praying for me.
Perhaps this has something to do with
some soul in that Village who may have a role
to play in teaching through her presence something
about returning to our roots here in San DIego.
I see the neighborhood where I live, not far from
a 35,000 University, returning to being part of a Village.
I see a time when neighbors will again be neighbors even
more than we are now.
I see a time coming when this urban area will be more
a village of friends. I cannot say more than this.
The Vision I see is unfolding as I write.
I am making an Imovie now.
I do not yet have permission as I write for a piece
of music from this Urganda Village called
"We are Happy!" If the Imove exports with the music
attached, I will publish it, and then go seek permission
to use the music.
This music was is from a CD called....
It was a gift to me from my niece EVA BECKER.
I also gave this music to a dear friend who right now
is preparing for a trip to Africa. I gave it to her
to bring her strength to go on this trip a number of
weeks ago.
There are a few other parts to this Seed Dream.
I attended a very special event two nights ago
at the WORLDBEAT CULTURAL CENTER in San Diego.
There, my old friend, MAKADA "DREAD" CHEATOM
created an enchanted gathering including elements
from many cultures. I was asked to participate.
I only envisioned doing an Enchanted Garden Installation
that morning of the New Year's Eve.
At the event, I bought a coffee plant and asked
STEVEN SPANGLER, founder of the EXOTICA RARE FRUIT NURSERY
to transplant it for me around midnight. There were african drums
playing at that time.
The next day--New Year's day--I went to Kwanzaa at
the BUTCHER home in EL Cajon. I do there every New Year's Day.
RICHARD, from Kenya was there. He told us about a run he
will be doing in February to raise money for VICKIE BUTCHER's
WATER FOR AFRICA project.
RICHARD was very interested in the koma Coffee plant I brought
for someone to adopt. It turns out that coffee is a big crop
in Kenya, his home.
I asked him where Uganda was in reference to Kenya.
He told me next door.
There was also a woman there named GAIL. She witnessed
my telling Richard that I imagined there might be a woman
in a Jewish Village in Uganda who would want to come here.
i do not know where I got this idea. It came into my head
after listening to the CD from the Uganda Jewish Community.
Then today, for the first time, I really listened to the CD.
I was enthralled by the music.

I am writing this blog for the woman
who I will love here in the Enchanted Garden
Intentional Community.
She may be living in a Uganda Jewish Community
right now in Uganda. I will likely bear children
with this woman. I cannot believe this fantasy
vision. I do not presume to imagine at this
point that it can come into reality. There
is an amazing series of events going on right
now that are co-creating this Vision.
This fantasy-Seed Dream
is also inspired by meeting a minister
PATO BANTON and listening to his incredible music.
It is also inspired by a need to clean house
here where I live, and important decisions I
am making now that ask lots of strength
and resolve. There are new spaces
that will become available here, and others
who may be coming to live here from distant
places for mutual growth.

THAT ARE TOUCHING ME VERY DEEPLY
In 2003, J.J. Keki, a member of the Abayudaya community,
led the effort to create a cooperative for coffee-growers
in the region, including not only the Jewish coffee-growers,
but Christian and Muslim coffee-growers as well.
The result was Mirembe Kawomera, Luganda
for "Delicious Peace".[10] In partnership with
Thanksgiving Coffee Company of Fort Bragg, California,
the cooperative is working in bringing new prosperity
to members of all religions.[11]

n many parts of the world, the Jewish tradition dates back centuries. In Uganda, however, it's quite recent, less than 100 years old. The Abayudaya community was actually formed in 1919 by a military leader who'd been exposed to Judaism and developed a literal interpretation of the Old Testament. The Abayadaya (which means "the Jewish people") only had sporadic contact with other Jews, and so their knowledge of Jewish prayers and their settings was fragmentary, although over time that's grown. The group was persecuted by the Idi Amin regime, but has remained, and this music reflects the collision of Jewish and Ugandan cultures. It's a fascinating mix, to hear prayers like "Adon Olam" sung with ineffable harmonies. There's so much joy here on Abayudaya - Music From the Jewish People of Uganda that it doesn't seem religious -- there's an underlying seriousness, as befits anything sacred, but the voices burst out of the speakers, and on those tracks with accompaniment, there's simply the feel of a village enjoying itself, singing. It's wonderful, infectious stuff, and even the solo voices seem to barely contain the pleasure. Sociology meets religion, and everyone's a winner. ~ Chris Nickson, All Music Guide
