Part Two of My IC Protocol - What You Need.

1. Purchase good quality pH strips to check your urinary pH. If you are symptomatic, your urinary pH is going to be very low (i.e. Acidic). The strips you buy need to be orange or yellow before they are used. If they are green, they are useless, as they will not register the lower pH ranges (which is what you will need). Most health food stores carry them, but you can easily buy them online. There is one brand you need to avoid: Enzymedica. Their strips are green and not accurate (no matter what they say on the package, I have tested them and unless your pH is already very high or “Alkaline”, they are not accurate).
2. The supplements you will need. Please buy them separately (do not buy something that has both in it), you will be taking them at separate times:
a. Powdered Calcium in a capsule. I prefer coral calcium, but I think any kind of Calcium Carbonate will do as long as: It’s in a capsule and it does not contain Vitamin D or any other vitamin. You want to make sure that there is nothing else in the capsule other than the calcium and some other trace minerals. No vitamins. If you are worried about not getting Vitamin D, get some sunshine instead. I use LifeTime Coral Calcium 1000 mgs. It’s cheap, it has what I want, and it works. I’m pretty sure it’s available most places, but feel free to buy any 1000 mg capsule of coral calcium or any other calcium carbonate capsule). You want capsules because tablets don’t always break down in your intestines.
b. Magnesium, also in a capsule. I highly recommend Twin Labs Magnesium. It comes in a capsule, and I know it works for me and it’s available everywhere. You will need both of these for raising your urinary pH. And the magnesium will keep you regular (adding calcium without magnesium will make you constipated).
That’s all you need to buy!! It’s a very inexpensive protocol.
